College football has no clue, there is one game tonight? Just one? And then the other semi is later? And then the championship is a week later?

Who comes up with this stupid shite??!!

They’re trying so hard to be like the NFL but the NFL has much better playoffs

The BCS was perfect. Basically everything during the holidays. I hate dragging it out. I hate the regular season being devalued.

Agree the schedule needs to be fixed. Slowly dragging it out like this just makes everyone lose interest.

Literally all because of this cock sucker and his anger towards not being paid for being in some random basketball video game 30 years ago. Always about the money.

Well, if you watched 3 hours of the playoffs, 2 hours would be commercials.

Took college football 150 years to have a full playoff and they devised the absolute worst one possible.

Everything about it is terrible and inconsistent.

They have to schedule around the NFL. Surely you knew this?

But to say "hate the playoffs" when we get a game like PSU/ND is just stupid. That's a classic helmet matchup and was a hell of a game.

That was a good game despite me not knowing which pedophile to cheer for.

I don't mind it,but Perhaps it needs to be rescheduled.
Let's look at possibly the first round on the second weekend of December, let's say the 14th, quarterfinals on the 21st, semifinals around NYE/ New years Day, then the finals on the first week of January

Dude I said I hate the playoffs not the games...I want more games now. I don't want to wait 2 months from the end of the regular season for a champion. Why not have both games tonight or tomorrow night?

There has to be better scheduling

Do away with Conference Championship games.

Play the 1st round on campus that weekend.
Play the quarterfinals the next week.
Semis on NYD.
Finals the next week.
All the other bowls can be played between the quarters and the semis.

Common sense? If you want both games tomorrow they'd have to do one at 4pm and the other at 8? On a Friday?

Use your brain boss.

I hate it on a Monday too but their hands are tied. They can't go head to head with the NFL

NFL football is exponentially more popular, and the overlap vastly favors the NFL. A lot more die CFB first fans follow the NFL than NFL first fans follow CFB.

With the NFL playing on Saturdays and Sundays this time of year, and Friday night generally being a bad night for TV ratings, Monday makes the most sense to maximize eyeballs

This … absolutist college football fans like to brag about how they ignore the NFL but the proof is in the numbers.

It’s simple. Ad rates are higher in prime time. So you maximize the prime time games.

This is about money, not the sanctity of the sport.

The NFL playoffs actually share the CFP's biggest issue - that they reward champions of mostly geographically meaningless divisions more than best overall record. So you can have teams with .500 or even losing records make the playoffs because they happened to beat the completely random assortment of teams in their division.

More broadly, in the past a case could be made for why CFB was more entertaining despite being a lower level of play. Now, with all the unique format and rules taken away, CFB really is just the poor man's NFL. So the only reason to still watch is momentum from having become invested over years when the sport was actually good. I think you're going to see more and more former CFB fans shift to primarily following the NFL, as some of the numbers already suggest. For me personally, I expect I'll eventually just be done with spectator sports altogether.
