The New Playoff sucks

These games have felt big, but it really just seems like a small tournament so the dinosaur blue bloods can be crowned every year. None of the remaining teams have a NC worthy resume. In fact, they have all lost the only big regular season games on their schedules. They clearly just keep changing the format to take success away from the SEC. You can call it a conspiracy, but there's way more money and views involved in spreading the playoff out. The poor southern states are not desirable enough despite waxing everyone's azz in the BCS era.
A lot of the media has been trying to turn this into the Big 10 being awesome and SEC sucking. But, the big 10 is just 2 programs. And has been for as long as I can remember. Sorry Penn State, you're never going to win a championship. And ND, give me a break.
The SEC has had 6 programs win a championship in the last 30 years. 8 programs if you include Texas & OU. And almost every other program has played in or won a NY6 bowl in that time too. No other conference can claim half of those numbers.

People have been saying this same shite for years. It's almost like people are nostalgic for a time when all the teams in the top 10 were juggernauts and the second coming of the '85 Bears and didn't have issues and bumps in the road, which was a time that never existed.

Feels like the playoffs have already been going on for two months now. FCS has more teams and their playoffs end today.

Wtf are you crying about?

Yeah, I'm not sure I understand your argument.
If the SEC is better, it will prove itself out on the field.
If the B1G is better, it will prove itself out on the field.
Each year, it's really only one team, and you can't make the comparison in one year. Maybe the next 5 years? the next 10 years?
This format isn't for the dinosaurs imo. It's good for any and all teams, if they are good enough play and beat multiple good teams on their way to the title. It will be a hell of a lot harder to have a repeat champ imo.. or to go on a run like Saban did.

Did they not beat the NC resume teams?

3 SEC teams were in the 12 team playoff…you are saying the system sucks because it didn’t confirm your bias.

Umm... huh?
How do you come to make that ridiculous statement?

12 too many. 8 would have been perfect. At least the last 8 games were competitive. Only way to make 12 competitive although still predictable is to take 12 best in spite of conference affiliations.

Kind of like how they are all on the SEC bandwagon in basketball now. The press is fickle. Don't let it bother you.

It's 16 vs. 16 (18?) in this comparison. It doesn't boil down to Ohio St vs. Texas.
The SEC 16 are shite loads better than the B1G 16 (18?)
See, I don't even know how many schools are in the B1G. It's like half a dozen that mattter at best.

Yes. 6 or 8 would be loads better.

I disagree completely. If we had the 4 team playoff, and it was only up to the voters, it would have been Oregon, Georgia, Texas, and Penn State. Allowing the play on the field determine the teams has resulted in the final 4 being Texas, Penn State, Notre Dame, and Ohio State. I would rather play determine champions instead of voters.

The new playoff has been a big nothing burger and ratings failure.
Nice job conference commissioners.

Don't forget that the Head of the whole thing is the BIG Commissioner, himself. I don't think active coaches, commissioners and AD's should be on the committee. There are plenty of retired people in those categories who would not project nearly such an image of conflict of interest.

Yeah, someone might win a title with 2 losses. It shouldn't even count.

It sucks because it ruined a lot of the regular season meaning.
Ohio St vs Michigan = meaningless game.
SECCG = Mostly meaningless game.
Instead of those games having big meaning for the playoffs, it was #18 or whatever Clemson against over-ranked SMU. Magically, that game had meaning for Clemson, but not for SMU.
And so on. Back in the BCS and before then, for all it's flaws the regular season felt like the playoffs every week. We give up all that excitement for a few games at the end of the year.
The most interesting thing was the lack of divisions in the SEC allowed for the 2 teams to not be known so quickly and it seemed like many more teams were in the mix longer.
