I've got great parents. I've had so many great parents, but this is a good group of parents right now, so appreciate their support."

He is without a doubt the GOAT to ever coach in Orange & Blue. Makes me proud to be an AU grad.

Pat Dye will always be #1 for me. Bruce can be #2.

Bruce is a great coach and a very good person. I am glad he is at Auburn.

Love Bruce. He has done for basketball what Dye did for football. However a little easier in football for us. Can’t say I have a favorite just that respect both for what they did for AU

I think he's the best coach we've ever had in the big 3 sports. Dye was a very important figure at Auburn for sure, but to me Bruce is the man because I am a basketball guy first. He's been unreal.

Bruce is without a doubt the most impressive imo, but I grew up with Dye’s wishbone and smothering defenses so he gets my nod as favorite coach.

Tie between Pat and Bruce. Both faced difficult rebuilds and got the job done.

I wish I was old enough to remember the 80s. It must’ve been an awesome time to be an Auburn fan.

Both Number 1 Coach, just different sports.

Forced to chose, it would be Dye then Bruce.

A lot depends on how old you are when ranking.

How our students and fans have a love affair with the basketball team now. It was similar in football. Just instead of 10k fans it was 100k going crazy the entire game. Plus by year 3 of the Dye era when Auburn walked on the field there was no doubt who was the biggest and baddest on the field. If Dye would have settled on an OC there is no telling how many national championships he would have won. I say at least 3. It was a complete cluster frick in tight games late in games. Sullivan, Crowe, Dye all making decisions at the same time. Oh well still the greatest decade of football in my lifetime.

Bruce is a better ambassador for the university at-large and amazing in the community. But Dye was no slouch in that regard and was as fine as they come as a man. And football just has an outsized influence down here.

If we win the natty i think they should name the court after him as he contines to coach. And if johni wins wooden award + natty. Give him a statue right by charles

I don’t agree about Bruce being a better ambassador. Bruce is good on national interviews but ambassador for the university Dye dug his heels in and basically fought for AU for years to be paid, looked upon, and scheduled as equals to the bama’s, Tennessee’s and Texas’s. It was a different time where social media wasn’t around. Dye controlled everything.

I think some use the didn’t win a national championship against Dye. Auburn was basically Ole Miss prior to Dye. Now we are on the level with anyone else in the country since Dye.

We need to add another championship in the next 10 years but we will never go back to pre-Dye times in football. I’m not sure Bruce’s time changes the entire future of Auburn basketball. We have to wait and see.

Not even close if we are in a measuring contest.

David Marsh has won 17 SEC titles (13 men and 4 women), by far the most of any Auburn coach or team.

SEC Men's Coach of the Year: `92, `93, `97, `98, `99, `01, `03, `04, `05
SEC Women's Coach of the Year: `93, `02, `03

In 2003 he led both the men's and women's teams to a sweep of the NCAA titles, a first in collegiate Swimming and Diving. Marsh and the Tigers went on to repeat this accomplishment three more times (2004, 2006, and 2007).

Those above are GOAT Numbers.

I have great respect for Dye, Pearl, Champi et al but if we are talking goat then I have to put the numbers there. You can throw in other coaches who won a natty for us but repeats. We were a swimming dynasty. They were also great in the 80s.

We were a continuous top 10 in Wrestling until Dye pulled the plug on it.

I'm weird..

I liked Tubberville's quiet style, and I also like Pearl's over the top style.

I liked Tuberville. Old school coach. Our defenses were nasty under his staff. The 2004 team still ranks as my favorite Auburn team I think.

Crap, now I have to go watch highlights of the '04 team in 144p.

Yup I also always bring up Marsh when it comes to goat status at Auburn. One of my good friends back then was on the team (Andrew Sivulka) and I followed the program closely and some of that success during those years is just mind blowing. Also got to meet Olympian Kirsty Coventry once which was one of the highlights of my time at Auburn.
