Who do you think starts next year?

Do you think we should add someone from the portal?

Do you think Russell could start as a true freshman? Seems ultra talented on the videos I’ve watched. But seems like he needs a year in the weight room to me.

I feel like Mack has the inside track by knowing the offense. I’m here for it!

1. Ty
2. No, unless someone transfers.
3. Possible, but not likely.

Hopefully Simpson can do a repeat of Mac Jones and ball out after waiting his turn. Or Mack can. Having to get a transfer or starting a true freshman QB doesn’t seem better than having someone already on the roster that has been around the offense.

Ty Simpson has ran the offense for a year. He knows it well also.

I think we'll need to add some sort of emergency backup for depth. Only having 3 QBs on the roster would be a bit risky.

We will have turnover after the spring if a true freshman wins. We could see TY and Mack leave. I thin Mack has the inside track though as he probably know the O best. Whoever allows the coaches to open up the playbook the most will win the job. But TY will be the QB1 going into spring practice. Will he hold onto it will be anyone's guess.'

But we need a QB who can run and not a runner who plays QB

After the Milroe trauma, I wouldn’t be surprised if DeBoer went with the guy that he is most familiar with and probably has the most influence over: Mack.

I think Ty maybe isn't as good as we hope him to be. Therefore I think it's Mack who will start.

And I don't think we will get a portal qb unless Mack or Ty hit the portal

1. The one who wins the job.

2. No.

3. Yes if he wins the job.

I agree that they might want to add a guy, but i think it's going to be a hard sell. Very few QB's that are transferring are looking to go somewhere to be a backup. And that's what we'd be looking for. Maybe if there's a future coach type out that that is capable of being solid in an emergency but doesn't have NFL aspirations.

If you bring in WB let it be a depth piece. I like the guys on roster now.

Agree.

We have everything you’d want.

A veteran former 5*, a developmental potential superstar and a guy who was handpicked by the current coach.

Now I’ll be watching Julian Sayin at Ohio State because I really liked his film, but other than the total lack of game film on any of the other guys I feel ok about QB going into next year.

I think we're going to have a legitimate competition heading into the fall.

I think Russell is probably the most natural, Ty the most athletic, and Mack is a prototype build with the longest time in the system. I really think they're all good, so I don't see anyone separating themselves in practice.

If I had to make a bet, Ty will take the first snap in Tallahassee. I imagine if you asked Deboer right now that wouldn't be his prediction, but I think Ty has enough talent to go win the job when it's up for the taking.

Definitely not ruling out Russell because I think he's the best passer of the 3, I just don't think the other guys are slouches and their size/experience will give them a leg up. Bryce Young was a prodigy and he looked pedestrian as a freshman in mopup duty. Tua looked great, but people forget the context that when Tua went in as a freshman he was playing with a bunch of future first round picks in mop up time. Life is easy when you have Ruggs and Smitty running against an already bludgeoned to death secondary.

Sayin is going to be the truth, but I like Russell better as a prospect if I'm picking between the 2. We're fortunate it worked out the way it did

But is that true if Sayin is ready now and Russell needs a year? Sayin just looked so damn smooth and accurate in the pocket…

I guess it all depends on whether we missed on Simpson and Mack, which I would feel much more comfortable answering had either gotten a half in the bowl game, but here we are.

I will be 100% behind whoever wins the job but I am not going to hide it, I really like Mack.

Are we confident in the current QBs on the roster that couldn't beat out Milroe and have proven nothing?

The true freshman has more upside and could be a three year starter. Go with him and maybe Alabama will be back in the playoffs in 2026.

Just hope we have a wide open QB command may the best man. If Ty does I assume he transfers out so may need to grab someone from the portal in the spring for depth
