They got exposed tonight and showed (again) that the committee doesn’t know what the hell they’re doing.

They had no business being in the playoffs and worse than that they made ND look like they were world beaters. Oh and frick ND !!!

Indiana got exposed horribly but again, if they’d used the old BCS system the Hoosiers would still have gotten into a 12-team field. We’re going to see this every year with 12 teams because it’s going to be an exception rather than a rule for there to be 12 national championship caliber teams in the field, and they’re already talking about expanding it.

That was hard to watch.

Notre Dame had their chest out like they are 2012 Bama lol. Georgia will humble them.

The committee knew exactly what they were doing. This is what the media wanted. Media darlings like ND and others will always get the benefit of the doubt but fans and media are sick of Bama. This whole system was created to make money by getting other fan bases involved from teams that don’t have a snow balls chance in hell of winning. This was never about the 12 best teams, this was about getting money out of the SMu, Indianas, AZ state. Fanbases who are normally checked out by now.

It's because everything in cfb is based off of the loss column, so bad conferences benefit.
Indiana only had 1 loss so they MUST be better than all the 2 and 3 loss teams, because schedules and who you played doesn't matter.

Plot twist: Notre Dame has no business in the CFP either, but at least they had some decent wins.
Indiana made ND look much better than they are.

Losses are the number one factor to the committee !! It has worked out for us in the past, not this time however

Yeah it was like having root canal but I made it to the end.
ND is not a horrible team and their defense especially up front is OK but there was absolutely nothing about them that said “you should be playing for a national championship.” In the SEC or any decent conference they’d be 6-6, maybe could hit 7-5. They would have trouble scoring against half the teams in the SEC.

I think this take of teams having no business in the playoff assumes that the playoff is still some elite, difficult thing to get into. With the size and format selected, it isn't. A team like Indiana doesn't belong in the championship conversation and never seriously was. But in this system, they did belong, because this system is filled with mediocre and slightly above average teams that have played very easy schedules. Tennessee is the only team in this first round that actually faced a challenging schedule.

If true, then they need to change the system so strength of schedule is part of the discussion.
Somehow college sports can get this right with basketball, but failed miserably at this with football?

Of course they do. We all know that. And I don't think this system will be long lived. It's charity for the SEC and Big Ten to share space with conferences making a fraction of the revenue. Their patience for that will run out quickly. This season, everyone was happy with the outcome because it was Alabama being left out and no one thought beyond that. Moving forward, when other teams get left out, people will cry foul.
Frankly I'd rather the SEC just be done with this. Just have a 16 team league and let the Big Ten and the rest compete for the division two championship.

SOS is part of the conversation.
The issue is when you have a B1G led committee who is trying create a situation they will change how they weigh things week to week.
They purposely schedule week OOC in that conference to boost their wins so of course they would make SOS less important to prop up their teams and to weaken their rival hardened conference the SEC.
This was all about them ensuring the Midwest took most of the financial return from these home games and go the most teams they could get into the next round.
It's all about the B1G propping themselves up for money.
Hence why it was funny when Sean McDonough told that absolute shithead Greg McElroy that the B1G look bad in this and questioned why Indiana was automatically in when they beat only one ranked team

Sean was throwing bombs last night, calling the B1G out. Throwing the CFPC under the bus. I've never heard a broadcaster speak the truth like that. He'll probably be fired

That wasn't the tune he was singing before last night.

Alabama has to go take care of business moving forward.
Greg Stankey has to go take care of the SEC moving forward. He was played by the Big 10. I dislike Stankey and it didn't start this year.

He has made plenty of questionable decisions. I'm not so sure he isn't doing it on purpose.
