23 tds and 6 INTs last year.
15 and 10 this season.

What the hell?

Was DeBoers offense too difficult for him and was play calling worse?

Our offense was a shite show at the end of the season.

This was the first year a QB has regressed under DeBoer in his career.

Crazy that it was with a Tommy Rees offense

Well, when you have a QB that is really only good at a few things and you have a lot of tape that basically proves that, you get lower production.

No kidding. The other 2 qbs he coached had career years under DeBoer. Both are in the NFL.

Penix was just named the starter in ATL.

Rees babied him last season to win games. Deboer tried to treat him like an actual QB, put more on his plate and he couldn’t handle all the information.

Same thing happen with Jalen Hurts..Kiffin babied him to win games in 2016 and then Daboll tried to put more on his plate in 2017 he regressed( was still a hell of a lot better than Milroe btw)

We faced a pretty ridiculous defensive slate this year

SP+ Rankings
Tennessee: 4th
South Carolina: 12th
Georgia: 13th
Auburn: 16th
Oklahoma: 17th
Missouri: 25th
Wisconsin: 28th

Milroe’s career against good defenses has always consisted of 1 or 2 great games, a few roller coasters, and some disasters

Real Take…

- Rees wasn’t nearly as bad as everyone made him out to be.
- DeBoer lost Ryan Grubbs who has been with him for a very long time.
- Nick Sheridan’s inexperience was on display.

I think what it comes down to is that Deboer probably thought he could turn Milroe into something that he isn't. I think Rees wanted to do that also but kind of bailed on the idea midseason. Ultimately this offense and what it wants to do does not mix with Jalen Milroe's skillset.

Milroe is very limited. I will tell you that right now and I will also say that I appreciate his efforts and am ready to move on. HOWEVER, this staff mismanaged the offense this year. I think someone like Kiffin could have schemed Milroe and this offense into the playoffs.

Either way, thanks for your service, Jalen, and now let's see what the next guy can do.

I don't think its as bad as it when you add in the rushing TD's. He has the same number of TD's both seasons at 35. He had 8 rushing TD's in the last 4 sec games.

So far this year Milroe is responsible 212 points same as last year. Penix finished with 236 last season.

Average points per game last year was 34.0 ppg this year is 35.5

According to espn qbr rating Milroe is 2nd in the conference behind (Dart 84.8) and 8th national at 82.9
Last season he finished 9th at 83.6 and Penix was 10th at 83.4

Offense was less QB centric in 2023. We were not great with tailback runs in 2023 but it was far more effective than 2024. Alabama's offensive staff designed the passing game plan around giving schemed-open-Mickey-Mouse throws instead of expecting him to read the defense. I think he had fewer sacks this year though and I think that was partly due to him not hunting for the primary given to him presnap as much as in 2023.

Also, pure and simple: this WR corp was worse than 2023. The WR1 is a kid who should be a HS senior and the WR2 is transfer portal journeyman who would have probably been WR3 on the 2023 WR corp.

The fact that we basically had to abandon the slant route and used it maybe 3 times all year should lead to the automatic firing of whoever drafts Jalen.

We just could not use one of the most basic plays in football, while having Ryan Williams who I assume would be a beast on YAC coming off a slant. I don’t care what Mel Kiper whoever the frick thinks, we couldn’t run slant routes this year!!! At best we would get comeback routes.

This but folks like Remaster are so crazed and desperate to continue the success like they think it’s our birthright or something ,,, that’s not an original line, I read it in a book about the Iron Bowl rivalry a few years ago, quoted some doofus Bama fan saying competing for championships every year is “our birthright,” which is idiocy … that they can’t understand or accept such nuance.

A coach should read the room to an extent about his talent but he should not do a 180 on the basic core of what he does just to satisfy impatient fans. Because as has been pointed out here that’s how you become the Barn.

I’ll slam DeBoer hard for the team not being prepared for Oklahoma. I don’t like Vandy but that was simply a WTF night although there are people here who will never remove that scarlet V from DeBoer’s head even if we run the table and win the big trophy next year.

But I will not slam him or Sheridan for not dumbing the playbook and their expectations down for Milroe. That’s not in the program’s best interests.

So you give Rees a pass but not Sheridan? What’s the common denominator? That’s the real take
