If 2019 LSU could play 2020 Alabama today…

Alabama fans will say this is comparing apples to oranges, but I don’t think so. It’s only been a few years and I can’t think of anyone that has had some sort of surprising development in the NFL.
So, if the 2019 LSU Tigers led by Joe Burrow could take the field today vs the 2020 Alabama Crimson Tide led by Mac Jones, Vegas is putting that line at double digits in favor of the Tigers and it’s not going to be close.

Mac Jones was running plays called by Steve Sarkisian in which he either handed off to Najee Harris or Brian Robinson, or he threw to DeVonta Smith, Jaylen Waddle or John Metchie behind the blocking of Landon Dickerson, Alex Leatherwood and Evan Neal. He would have lit LSU's defense up like many others did in 2019.
LSU would have lit Alabama's defense up like some others did in 2020 as well.
Would have been a crazy high scoring game dependent on who made a turnover play here or there.

2019 Alabama was the Vegas favor over 2019 LSU. 2020 Alabama team was clearly better than 2019 Alabama. So your logic makes no sense.

No one would argue Alabama was an immensely better coached team. LSU is in this debate in spite of coaching.
The 2019 team has OL starting in the NFL. Most of the defense starts in the NFL today. Minus sleeping through the 1st quarter of the NC, the defense was not shredded at the end of the season. The defense absolutely dominated Georgia, Oklahoma and Clemson.

None of those teams were even close to the 2020 Alabama offense outside of maybe Clemson. And Clemson scored 25 pts and had 400 yards of offense (after LSU's D found it's footing and got healthy). LSU's defense would not have stopped Alabama's offense.
The game would come down to the same thing the 2019 game did - turnovers and whoever gets a handful of stops.

Change 2 plays the other direction (Tua fumbling inside the 10 and throwing a terrible INT end of 1st half inside own 25) and Alabama is running out the clock on their last drive.

Coaching is the huge plus Alabama had every single year under Saban and his coordinators, such as Sark.
My bored, hypothetical here is that if today the 2019 team became the Bengals coached by Zac Taylor and the 2020 team became the Jaguars coached by Doug Pederson, I think TODAY the 2019 team smashes the 2020 team based off of how they perform today. And that's even with 2020 still slightly having the better coach.
Not trying to state anything as fact. Just bored and was fun random rabbit hole of thinking to go down.

I think that our 2020 defense was definitely better than our 2019 defense. I also don't think it would have changed a single thing against LSU.
