Better matchup is 2019 Clemson v 2020 Bama. I might give that edge to Clemson just because of Venables and his ability to prepare given a lot of time. In 2020 though, no one was on Bama's level.

2019 LSU boat races both of them. There is no coach and no era I love more than Spurrier and his time at UF, particularly some of those offenses like 96 then 2001 with Grossman. But UF never put 5 people into the pattern like LSU did in 2019. That team played 7 games against Top 10 opponents and won all of them, most of them by huge margins. It is the greatest season in CFB history and it's not even close, IMO.

Also, the 2019 LSU team was simply one of the most enjoyable teams to watch in the history of the game. Even their celebrations were fun to watch. They made that season better for all fans, IMO. Seems like yesterday but also seems like a long time ago.

I'm still amazed that momentum all got derailed, I guess by the protest fever or whatever. I still don't understand. LSU went from Burrow saying Coach O should get a lifetime contract to firing him before the hangover had subsided, and now Burrow dresses like he's appearing in a Sam Smith video.
