I have always appreciated schools like Georgia, Georgia Tech and Texas who allow middle and high schools to completely rip off their logos. My high school uses Arizona State's logo with their blessing. Kansas State allows schools to use their Wildcat, as long as it's not red and blue like their rival Kansas.
Saw this story from a Tennessee middle school that used Cincinnati's Bearcat C logo. Cincy told them to stop, so they changed their name to Cincy's rival, the Musketeers of Xavier, with Xavier's blessing.

I was coaching at a small school here in OK who used the BYU circle Y for the logo. We received a cease and desist or pay them X amount. I just dropped the circle from around the Y and said frick um.

Mormons have enough money. That’s lame of them to come after a small high school here in Oklahoma.

Not a college logo, but the Gallatin, TN green wave are green & gold and use the Green Bay Packers “G” on the helmet.

Usually they give you 10 years to get everything changed.

Agree. Auburn donates to Mississippi power house the Wayne County War Eagles. Very close to the barn in every way. Only difference is, they win a shite ton of football games. Auburn sucks.

While they have a lot of combos and alternates, my old high school ripped this one straight from Clemson’s all white away uniforms.

I am almost certain that they got a letter way back in the 90's and had to rework the logo.

UG uses Green Bay's logo.
quote:
A Packers team equipment manager under legendary coach Vince Lombardi came up with the team's helmet logo in 1961. He designed the shape of the logo to represent a football and the G to mean Green Bay.
A couple years later in Athens, Georgia, Vince Dooley was redesigning the team's uniforms, including changing the helmets from silver to red, according to the school. His idea was to have a black G on a white background on the helmet. John Donaldson, a newly hired backfield coach, volunteered his wife, Anne, to help with the redesign. Anne had a degree in commercial art from the university, and created the G logo as we know it today, matching Dooley's "forward looking" vision he had for the G.
While the Georgia's G dimensions and colors were different, the university still sought approval from Green Bay to use the logo. The Packers granted it. A year later, Grambling State also designed a G logo for its helmet, and the Packers also granted the school permission.
Georgia's G designed in 1963 is slightly slimmer compared to the Packers' G. It has remained the same since, while Green Bay's logo was slightly altered to have a gold border in 1980.
So no finger pointing, Packers fans. Georgia didn't copy the Green Bay G, and even if they did, Green Bay let them.
The Georgia 'G' logo: Who had it first, the Dawgs or the Packers?
