Bowl projections are now changing their tune

Last night right after SMU's loss I looked at 3 updated bowl projections, and all had Bama in over SMU. This morning I've looked at 7, and 5 of them have SMU in including Brett McMurphy who is fairly spot on with bowl projections. He usually has some insider knowledge. I now think SMU gets the last spot as they're going to say SMU has had no bad losses, while Bama has two.

No way they put an unknown in over Bama if they are choosing between the two.
Never forget, this is about ratings, not season performance.

All you gotta do is look at the TV ratings this year, boss

I agree. I'm just stating that last night after Clemson won CBS, CFN, and 247 all had Bama in, and SMU out. This morning 247 and CFN have updated with SMU in. Every other projection this morning has SMU in except one of the ESPN guys. The big one is Brett McMurphy. He's usually spot on with this stuff. In fact, he was one that had Bama in over FSU last year. This year he has SMU in over Bama. He usually knows all the bowl matchups before they are announced. I think SMU is getting in.

Clemson knocked Bama out of the playoffs last night.

SMU deserves the spot. Can't penalize them for losing a conference championship game when Bama didn't even make it to theirs. Plus that Oklahoma loss was really bad.

I'm a Bammer and I don't think Alabama deserves to be in a national championship playoff, but on the other hand I do think they are one of the 12 best teams and could probably beat several of the others that are in.
Basicially, I think 12 are too many, but it will make money and is anybody naive enough to think that isn't the reason we're having it. 16 would be better, so there are no bye teams, but 4 was about perfect.

Does Dallas give a shite about SMU?
I will commend the committee if they put in SMU. But I have zero doubt they cannot pass up Alabama vs Notre Dame.
If they swing that as the very first game of the CFP playoffs, they will set the tone of how positive of a change this format is for matchups, ratings, and tradition. It’s perfect for them and their greedy fat fingers.

SMU is the Cinderella school.

If tv draw is a major factor, Alabama is a lock.

IMO most of the “Dallas” market could care less about SMU

How much less could they care?

That's equating ACC and SEC Championship games. Do you really think they are even close to being even? Will you next year when LSU is a bubble team? Be honest.

And here I was thinking the term "Cinderella" applied to upsetting higher ranked opponents.

A&M could best several of the teams that are in. That absolutely doesn’t mean shite. They have no right to be there if you’re looking at the body of work this season. And neither does Bama with bad losses.

During the regular season when SMU was not really expecting to do much? So, you think that market would show very little interest in SMU participating in the first 12 team playoff?

I think more people will start to care about their schools if they actually have the chance to win something
