Arizona State and Iowa State, the 10-2 teams that will play in the Big 12 championship game Saturday, are outside the top 12 in the latest CFP rankings and behind three SEC teams with three losses: No. 11 Alabama, No. 13 Ole Miss and No. 14 South Carolina. The Sun Devils are 15th and the Cyclones 16th.

"The [selection] committee continues to show time and time again that they are paying attention to logos versus résumés," Yormark said to open a nearly four-minute statement during a Zoom call to preview the Big 12 title game.

The better point came from the Iowa St AD:

“Disappointing that strength of schedule clearly does not matter for SMU, Indiana and Boise State,” Pollard wrote. . . "Very different standards than the basketball committee.”

They really need to learn from the basketball committee which created the NET where Quality Wins became more a important tool than overall records.

Not perfect, but it's at least systematic and means resumes are not just presented as a selective flurry of one-off talking points.

Penn State’s schedule was beyond a joke. Oregon can name the score tomorrow.

I hope Oregon wins but Penn State will put up a fight.

And 4 years ago your pussy Big 10 commisioner tried to cancel the entire season because he was afraid someone might catch a cold.

"A holistic decision."

They really need to emphasize quality wins because the biggest "fix" to the system is trying to figure out how to remedy how uneven the new super conferences have made schedules.

I believe they thought that they could use "making the championship game" as more of a big resume point but this season showed that some teams miss it playing 5 Top25 teams in their conference and others making it by only playing one of them all season.

I would agree at first glance. But Oregon is already in. Will they even try?

The “playoff” should by its nature be exclusive not inclusive. So it should weed out teams instead of finding the means to add teams.

Penn State shouldn’t even be playing football at this level. SMU in the early 80’s was punished and given the DP for recruiting violations. Penn State had the biggest scandal in sports history. If I’m not mistaken their punishment was not that much worse in scholarship reduction than Ohio State and the tattoo “scandal”. What saved PSU was the big ten having a down year. Money talked and the NCAA pardoned most of the sanctions against the cult in Happy Valley. One of the worst moments in sports.

hilarious that the big 12 wouldn’t let smu for so many years until Texas and OU announced they were bailing, then smu went to the ACC and the big 12 teams are complaining about them

What SOS is ISU complaining about? They got creamed by Kansas and have 0 ranked wins.

Since this is a Big12 thread, Baylor should be mentioned too. Just as bad as Penn State. Baylor also had a basketball player murdered by a teammate with a bunch of other shite coming out of that.
