How can anyone really predict what Tenn will do next year? They have above average talent, but so much is changing there for the first time in so long..hard to predict what the future has for them. And who knows how the Kiffin duo will work out.

I think Kiffin will do a good job. Especially considering UGA will be without Knowshon Moreno and Stafford. And, South Carolina is just WAY too inconsistent.

I don't understand how everyone is saying we will win the SEC next year when all this team did was show up for one game and beat a one dementional GT team. The win was an impressive one, but I just don't see how that makes us a top 5 team starting next season. We lose almost our entire defensive line, 2 leaders on the o-line. The corners are still a question, although I know the time with Chavis and the new coaches will help a ton. Don't get me wrong, there is no doubt this team will be better than 08, I just don't see us as a top 5 team to start the year. Also, I wouldn't put Bama third, I think some of you guys are seriously underestimating the talent in that program right now. They lost to Utah, but they are still going to have a pretty damn good year next season. I don't like them just as much as the next LSU fan, but i'm going to look at them realistically.

Alabama is losing their 2 best OL, their senior QB, Glen Coffee (their best RB this year, their OC, their DC...that's a lot of changes. Bama will still be very competitive and probably a 9-3 team, but I think LSU and Ole Miss will be better.

If Bama wins the west it will likely be due to their schedule. LSU will be more mature and Chavis may not attack like the LSU fans were used to under Pelini but they should not be out of position. Since it is in BAma next year I say Bama by 3 and that may clinch the division.

I haven't bought into the Ole Miss is going to be good hype. Nutt has had talented teams in the past at Arky and found a way to lose, so I am not quite sold on them. LSU should be solid, too bad we run the table.......sorry, I've been drinking.

BigScCocksBy7 - i saw this post on another message board about usc 2009. Is USC really losing this many players? If so, how can you have them tied for 2nd?

Wow...Gamecock team is getting GUTTED this offseason
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I didn't realize just how bad this Gamecock team was getting hammered this offseason...it's bad. Real bad. I started counting and it looks like the Gamecocks are losing a whopping seventeen guys - repeat (17)! - off their 2-deep...including twelve starters.
Check out this list:
1. QB Chris Smelley (starter, transferring to play baseball)
2. QB Tommy Beecher (backup, transferring)
3. RB Mike Davis (starter, graduating)
4. WR Kenny McKinley (starter, graduating)
5. TE Jared Cook (starter, early entry to NFL)
6. OT Justin Sorensen (starter, graduating)
7. OG Jamon Meredith (starter, graduating)
8. DT Jonathon Williams (backup, graduating)
9. DE Jordin Lindsey (starter, graduating)
10. LB Jasper Brinkley (starter, graduating)
11. LB Dustin Lindsey (backup, graduating)
12. LB Marvin Sapp (backup, graduating)
13. S Emanuel Cook (starter, early entry to NFL)
14. CB Captain Munnerlyn (starter, early entry to NFL)
15. CB Stoney Woodson (starter, graduating)
16. CB Carlos Thomas (backup, graduating)
17. K/P Ryan Succop (starter, graduating)
On top of this, they're also cutting several non-starting upperclassmen like Freddie Brown.
What's interesting is that the Gamecocks are losing their top two QB's, their top RB, and their only consistent WR...which is amazing considering how many WR's (or guys he's convinced are WR's) that Spurrier has recruited. They're also losing virtually their entire back seven on defense, and their absolute-money placekicker/punter, Ryan Succop.
Frankly, I'm shocked. If anybody had told me this was going to be Spurrier's roster - no QB's, no WR's, and no RB's of note, and an offense that's as dismal as any in the SEC, heading into Year 5 of his regime, I'd have told them they were insane. This is as bad, perhaps worse, than the team he inherited from Lou Holtz.
For some reason there's this rumor going around that Aramis Hillary is somehow going to be the QB savior Spurrier is looking for...so I nosed around. Gamecock insiders are actually saying quite the opposite, that Hillary in fact is probably headed for WR, leaving just Stephen Garcia and redshirting freshmen Reid McCollum (who enrolled early, started disasterously, and then returned home his first semester at USC.) I also personally watched McCollum play a year ago in the Shrine Bowl...he wasn't just bad, he was awful. Which means, basically, it's Garcia or nobody for Spurrier.
Wow.
If this team goes 6-6 in the regular season, Spurrier probably deserves National Coach of the Year honors. He's got an absolute cataclysm brewing over there.

I like it that people seem to view AU as battling Miss State for the title of worst team next year. There are going to be some major meltdowns by fans after some teams play AU if people really think AU is going to be just above MSU level.

Honestly I see Bama and LSU playing for the West. Everyone talks about them losing Wilson, etc, but they do have talent. Plus its not like Wilson won them many games you know?
As long as they can run the ball and play typical Saban defense I would worry about Bama.
Same formula worked for LSU so I dont see why it couldnt work for Bama. If Saban is grateful for anything its that Shula left him with some decent offensive lineman.

This whole post seems somewhat unnecessary. Only four teams have much of a chance to win the SEC next year. Florida is going to win the East, no question about it. Alabama, LSU, and Ole Miss will compete for the West. Ole Miss gets both of those teams at home, Alabama gets LSU at home, and LSU has to play both on the road. LSU is also at a disadvantage having Florida on the schedule, even in Tiger Stadium.
