The stadium experience in BDS is way overproduced these days

I've been going to games at BDS for decades but have only gone to a few the past few years. This past week against Auburn was my first game at BDS in two years. I've obviously seen first hand the trend over the decades of the traditional college football experience giving way to the more modern stadium experience, but after being away for awhile it really was aggressively noticeable.
I first really noticed the issue after Williams fumble in the 1st quarter. They never showed it on the jumbotron, not once. Live it was difficult to tell what exactly happened. Nobody in the stadium barely knew what happened. Was he down? The game went to commercial and rather than show any replays at all, they immediately had to cut to pre-recorded bits #1 and #2 of the #542 they had planned for the day.
Every single stoppage, timeout, whatever. It's filled start to finish with these pre-defined canned segments and ads. Often times the tone of the segment is completely out of whack with what's going on with the game.
The constant piped in music is obviously something people discuss too, and it wouldn't be bad in small doses but it's constant. Doesn't feel like you're at a football game because the crowd, cheerleaders, and band are barely even noticeable over the speakers blaring out whatever.
Basically there's never any time to just sort of soak in the atmosphere. The jumbotron and the speakers detract from the actual game you are there to watch. The best word to describe it is simply over-produced.
So that's my old man rant. I'm not against things changing but it barely felt like a football game.

There was a significant change after COVID and it feels clunky. At the Georgia game this year it took until maybe five minutes in the fourth to get Dixieland delight, and it was cut incredibly short. Five years ago that was the immediate song at the end of the third. The “BEAT” Auburn blare is annoying as all hell. Bill Battle can kiss my arse for banning dixieland in the first place
The red lights in 2019 were fun, now the whole thing feels over engineered how they force it into a halftime show almost.
I noticed it a bit during Texas in 2023 but for Georgia this year it was actually outrageous how overproduced everything is now. I found myself tuning out because of it on commercial breaks
Final rant but the band feels like background noise now rather than driving the crowd. Every time they try to play there’s some random EDM song playing at 4X the volume

I'm an old guy, and oddly enough, I enjoyed the experience this year

The experience is enjoyable.
Not showing replays is indefensible.
I shouldn’t have to be texting people at home to find out what happened when I spent X amount of money to attend the game.

They need a new song playlist. Every stadium is doing the same prekickoff, big third down songs. Agree with OP that some of the song choices are way out of sorts for what is going on in the game. Thes band is about 20 yards to my right and I can barely here them playing Yea Alabama after a TD.
I thought the atmosphere was great for UGA, but they try to make it the exact same experience. Maybe it was a day vs. night th8ng, but the AU game didn’t have the same juice.

colleges are moving to a more corporate experience and it feels more like an NFL game than college.

Agree about not seeing replays. Very annoying.
I could also do without that dude acting as "mc" for everything. Gets on my nerves.
Internet connectivity is still nonexistent...at least for my Tmobile.
I like the lights though.

The band and cheerleader chants are basically gone. They used to be a major part of the atmosphere and that's what u heard between plays and drives and during timeouts.
Issue is there are exactly 0 seconds of unallocated downtime. The speakers are blaring out something at max volume constantly.

My only gripe is your point on replays. No reason we can't get the same level of shots the broadcast has.

I don't love the Cheerleader DJ thing, nor do I love the lights, but overall I think it's a pretty good mix of music. I actually liked the band being micd up against Auburn and playing a few new jingles that were clearly to get the crowd involved (We Ready and Nah Nah Nah Nah Goodbye).
They are usually good with the replays, but they definitely botched the Williams fumble replay solely because TV immediately went to timeout and they clearly had to get their "2nd TV timeout of the 1st quarter" sponsor on the field thing in. That was very irritating. They literally never showed a replay of it.

Last winter I was at a basketball game at Coleman for the first time in forever, and felt pretty much the same way. It's almost as though the "production" is intended to try to convince you of what a good time you're having, when for many of us we'd be having a much better time in the absence of said production.

When I was at Bama, they would play an instrumental version of I Might Be Wrong by Radiohead when announcing our starting lineup on the jumbotron? As a big fan, I loved that.
but yeah, what is it with the same, tired, shitty songs being played at every stadium, year after year? Its ok to not do the same thing everyone else does.

I agree that it is a little over produced and that the band has been largely relegated in importance. From my seats, the Aub band had a larger impact on the experience than the MDB.
Unrelated I guess, but I thought the MDB halftime show was awful. What in the hell were the white boxes or whatever those things were? And the running onto the field from all angles looked junior highish to me.

The song doesn’t have lyrics so This may make no sense but I can hear this specific song in my head right now:
BOW BOW BOW bi bi bi bi bi bi bi BOW BOW BOW bi bi bi bi bi bi bi BOW BOW BOW
They play that shite way too much.

Yeah unfortunately this is not a BDS problem. This is across college football. Every Saturday on TV I hear Mo Bamba more than anything from the bands. I also have to question why they bother trying to do the "beat" thing during Dixieland Delight if you're going to play Mo Bamba anyway, knowing full well the student section will be screaming every word except for the one appearance of naysayer

I agree with you. Too much piped in music these days. Dont ever hear the band. I think the light shows are fun, but I bet it’s annoying as frick for the coaches when trying to talk to players in timeouts and the lights are flashing and it’s dark.
However, Bryant Denny was being lauded nationally for the exceptional stadium experience after the Georgia game. So don’t get your hopes up of it going back to the old school experience any time soon.

That's what the song is called. I just listened to that song for the first time voluntarily, and yeesh. I guess they have to edit pretty much the entire song
