While I understand the idea of having guys you've worked with before on your staff, if they're simply not getting the job done (which they're not), it's time for new blood and an upgrade.

Personally, I'd offer to (at a minimum) to double Glenn Schumann's salary to get him to come home. I know he doesn't want a lateral move but make him an offer he can't refuse.

As for an OC, not sure but there has to be some young, bright up and coming OC out there. Ben Arbuckle from Washington State? I've been impressed with Wazzou's offense (they're the #9 offense in the country). He's a young guy.

AJ Milwee-currently Co-OC at Texas and a former Bama player. I think he'd be good and he's pretty young.

I’d like to see a new DC. Wommack can be outcoached and outschemed. And he’s poor at in game adjustments.

Other side of the ball, I don’t think you see any changes. It’s DeBoer’s offense and Sheridan is his guy. I haven’t been a fan of the play calling but I think you probably wait to see what they can do without Milroe weighing them down. Ya’ll crucified Tommy Rees last year, but he did much better with Milroe than this staff did. I want to see what it looks like when they have a QB that can run their whole playbook.

DC needs to be replaced. Jury out on OC until a competent QB is put in place.

I am not against the idea, as an armchair QB, but let’s examine both OC and DC.

OC Sheridan has not done the best job, as he doesn’t seem to have a feel for the game flow, especially in using plays to set up later plays. We have turned away from the running game at times that it has made me totally confused. But, and this is the biggest thing, he does not have a QB capable of running the offense that’s in place. I am not going to turn this into a bash Milroe thread, but he’s not able to play the QB position to a high level. I have seen numerous open receivers this year, and the ball never gets to them. Whenever the pressure begins to ramp up, you can literally feel the panic from this offense, especially from our QB. And our OL, especially tackles, have greatly regressed in their play as the year has gone on.

DC Wommack has been a roller coaster ride this year. Losing Lawson was huge last night, but our overall run defense was atrocious. Constantly putting a 3 man line out there when the other team cannot throw the ball and has run for over 200 yards in the first half is inexcusable. No run blitzes. His overall defensive philosophy will not translate to success on the field. The players do not attack; they simply wait for the opposing players to get to them. I agree that other DC options need to be pursued, and with over a million and a half dollar yearly salary, a competent DC should be able to be hired. And, in closing, it should be mentioned that the defensive players do not respect Wommack.

With that being said, I will sign off and wait on Coach DeBoer to call and ask my opinion.

I want a new OC and DC. I want someone with SEC experience. I'm tired of getting these young coordinators that want to try stuff with us, cut their teeth here, then move on. Get veteran guys or coaches that need the rehab program. Those worked out better than young ones.

OC has down that he cannot deal with a blitzing defense or a struggling QB. He doesn't scheme the defense well .. He just send to pull random plays from a hat. It's like watching a kid play NCAA football.

DC is just in over his head. He gets out schemed most games. He fails to make adjustments. Players are out of position and clueless.

I still think Deboer is a winner.
First year was always going to be a throw away/get to know the culture and feel of the conference kind of year. If he can finish out the year with a win vs barn and a bowl game victory, he'll be 10-3 with a room temp IQ running back for a qb. Also, a 1st year OC and DC that has never coached big time football.

That scenario, in retrospect, would be a glowing success especially if he can keep the recruiting class intact for the most part.

Glen Schumann at DC and give him complete control of the defense.

It’s hard to judge DeBoer and Sheridan because they are being hamstrung by Milroe

Should have hired Pruitt as an analyst this season so he could have served out his 1 year suspension and then slid into the DC position in 2025 while having gotten some familiarity with the new HC and roster during his sit out year.

Yeah, dude broke rules...that now look quaint considering what's happened in the game since. His tenure was the last time we really had a "Bama Defense."

No OC is going to win with Milroe and that's an honest fact.

Why? T-Rob had a good defense here last year and Mason has had good defenses in this conference. He’s the co DC with Schumann at Georgia. Either would be a huge upgrade over Wommack.

Rees was one play away from NC last year. This argument didn't hold water.

Anyone see Wommack walking around late last night clueless on how to stop OU? Just a blank clueless expression on his face.
