I realize in the SEC we can't control scheduling within the conference, but this

committee is screaming at the top of their lungs that if you are in a P4 conference, make your OOC schedule as light as possible and you'll be okay if you can win those games. Don't challenge yourselves at all. And make the regular season boring.

I don’t think they’re saying that. They’re likely just following rankings and the next two weeks will work itself out.
Georgia needs to put up points and come as close to covering that 42 point spread as possible to show if you got it.

Just keep it in mind every time someone says they want a 9 or 10 game conference schedule.
I sometimes wonder if they do it just to cause a split in the future.

Well, obviously you have to win your conference games.
My point is that strength of schedule doesn't seem to have much meaning right now. Head to head with UGA and Bama and Ole Miss is fine if that's the way you want to look at it. But what about Tennessee and Alabama? At that point, you should look at resumes of all of those teams. Perhaps they are looking at us getting beat by three scores I guess.
And I'm not even talking about Notre Dame being ranked ahead of us with one semi decent win and a loss to some team that calls themselves Salukis. Or a Miami team that has played no one and lost to Georgia Tech, an average team in a terrible conference.

I’m sure other conferences would like to see the sec do that. Let us canibalise ourselves.

We work on things that actually will make us better later and build depth in these games. We don't try to put on a show against these teams. It could happen because of the talent differential, but we don't do Tennessee and Ole Miss vs. these teams. Not our style.

Resume? Doesnt matter.
SOS? Doesnt matter.
Quality wins? Doesnt matter.
Overall wins? All that matters.
Head to head? It matters, sometimes.

If I were a coach I wouldn’t give a damn bout style I’d be doing everything I can to show why I’m the best. Everyone knows what your style is and it isn’t working. I’m not trying to be a dick to you either.

How is it our fault that Michigan sucks the year after they won the natty and made multiple CFP appearances in a row? We went there and took care of business and beat them just like Oregon did.
Also, OU has been pretty good for almost 2 decades, then absolutely sucks the year they join the SEC.
Now, we have Ohio State scheduled back-to-back.

The problem with SEC mentality is the spirit of sport is lost on you pours.
You'd play Mercer 12 times just get a shot at the Natty. Probably always made sure your little sister never won at Pong.
It's not about the love of sport for indigents, it's about winning. Because personally, they don't.

We’re the only team that’s played the winners of the last 3 national championships, and 3 rivalry games on the road in 1 season.

If anything has that kind of power, they do what the Big 10 tells them to do.

Then it's in the self interests of ESPN / ABC to get as many of their SEC rating meal tickets in the tournament.

Do you believe that it will matter for BYU and Utah? How about Army?
What you posted is only partially correct.
What matters, to this committee, and all others until this expands to 16 teams ... is conference affiliation and TV ratings.
Does anyone believe that TV is not in the ear of this committee? Does anyone believe that this committee is completely and totally independent of outside influences? Free of biases?
Once you're honest with yourselves about these things ... then everything else becomes clear.
One thing is an absolute certainty. The 12 playoff teams will be pulled from the Top 14 of the CFP Poll. Being ranked 12th is not a guaranteed spot in the playoffs.

while I agree with you..
here is the problem this year
ND beat A&M and they are in 1st place
Pokes beat Hogs who beat Vols who beat Bama who beat Dawgs who beat Horns who beat Michigan who beat USC who beat LSU who beat the Rebels who best USCe who beat A&M who beat Missouri who beat Vandy who lost to fricking 2-8 Georgia State who lost to Georgia Tech who lost to Virginia Tech who lost to Vandy ..
How in the hell do come to grips with all of that with any sort of confidence? It’s a freaking circle jerk across the whole country.. way more so than usual imo.. and maybe that will be normal.. but we need to start winning our OOC games.
Did I mention Cal beat Auburm who beat 1-6 UK who beat Rebels who beat Dawgs?
Oh and Miss State got blown the frick out by TOLEDO.. one week after they lost to Arizona State..
This is why SOS is hard this year.
