We’ve already established that Hugh is getting next year even though this year has been a disaster by any standard of Auburn football.

So, how many games does Hugh have to win next year to be a success? How many games to keep his job? Let’s get this on the record now.

For me, success is 9 wins or more. 8 wins to keep the job. Hugh has already received more patience than has been allowed to any other Auburn coach, so it’s time to get back to Auburn’s historical average.

There isn’t a certain number.

He will be @ Auburn until the PTB decide enough is enough.

And I think what will truly decide his fate is when the biggest NIL wallets pull way back.

I'm seeing

1. @Baylor
2. Ball State
3. South Alabama
4. Mercer
5. @Arkansas
6. Alabama
7. Georgia
8. Kentucky
9. Missouri
10. @Oklahoma
11. @Texas A&M
12. @Vanderbilt

Anything less than a 4-0 start is a disaster. Arkansas and Kentucky should push us to 6 wins. Wouldn't pick us to win either of Georgia or Alabama. Oklahoma and Missouri could be wins. Not sure about Texas A&M. Is Pavia out of eligibility lol

Apparently wins just dont matter. As long as he goes out and buys some guys to sign with Auburn, he is OK.

He doesnt need to coach, win games or be truthful. Just recruit baby recruit

Im okay with it taking til year 4 to make playoffs and a 50% appearance rate after. Sure, it's nice to have some dynasty, but i dont NEED it. Just want to see some improvement and have fun watching again instead of being stressed.

8/9, but I think it all depends on how the team looks too, If they hit on the portal QB and he's good, but we're losing tight games due to coaching, I think it will still be dicey.

This is correct. I don't think that 7 wins is enough. Its 8 or 9 at this point, and it has to look good.

I agree definitely 8 or 9. I believe the off season will be a roadmap of his decision making ability. Failure to add critical pieces will make or break freeze.

I would say 7 to 9 games. What makes Freeze's situation a little different is that he's recruiting better than any coach maybe in Auburn history plus he's doing it with all of the NIL stuff going on. I know we just can't win recruiting and those recruits have to win games but just something to think about.

Recruiting in year 3+ becomes tied to winning. He needs to show significant improvement on the field next year or else why would recruits keep coming? 5-stars aren't signing up so that they can win 7 games a season. You can only bullshite excuses and promise the future for so long - and that applies to recruits as well.

Really really needs to at worst split the home games with UGA and Bama next year. Both are not the programs they were and prob will have new QBs. Got to break those streaks

Don't be bitter. We needed two years of great recruiting to rebuild the roster. Firing him this year, even though he's earned it, will not help Auburn succeed
