according to Jon Sokoloff of WCBI news out of Columbus MS. Sources say Ole Miss head football coach Lane Kiffin is planning to step down Friday and become the next head coach of Auburn. Sources in the Ole Miss athletic department denied that report. Sources close to Auburn say they have not offered the head coaching position to anyone at this time.

ESPN reported that Kiffin met with his players Tuesday and assured them that he hasn’t accepted a job at any other school and said he felt he owed it to his players and their parents to formally address the situation following our report. The ESPN report stated the following quote from a source:


“He told the players his focus was on Mississippi State and nothing else and that any reports out there about his accepting another offer were totally false”.

Ole Miss and Mississippi State play in the annual Egg Bowl on Thursday, Auburn faces Alabama in the annual Iron Bowl this Saturday. WATCH:
