.... Sheridan's answer when asked about the basketball shots during the QB sneak. Dude looked like a deer in headlights.

It's the right answer, you don't throw players under the bus while talking to the media. You do that shite in house

This ain't that big a deal. You put WRs out there so the defense can't just leave them uncovered.

So they show their jumper. WTF are they supposed to do on a qb sneak? These plays have existed for a long time. Players lay down or fall down. It's eye candy. It's fricking stupid to be upset over this.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if they don't have a pass play off that formation for that down and distance.

Roman Harper was blasting them for doing that on "read and react" as well.

What do you want him to say or do? It's a fair comment. He didn't say they execute it well or they trust them well enough to use the broader playbook

I agree with your overall point. I think his phrasing is questionable because obviously they're not coaching them to do that. I think the wording could be better. Overall this is such a nonissue compared to other stuff in the game, I'm sort of surprised it's getting discussed at all. I'd expect to see some complaints about something like this had Alabama won and there was less going on to critique.

No it isn’t. It shows a mindset, an attitude, and that attitude is we’re just fricking around out here, nothing important or meaningful going on. There’s a million things you can do there to basically do nothing since you’re not involved in the play, but acting a fool ain’t one of them. Hell, if nothing else you get a free chance to knock the hell out of the DB if you do it fast enough. You’re just blocking, but he might react and take a swing at you. A free fifteen yards and an automatic first down in case the sneak was unsuccessful. But to do what they did shows their mind isn’t on the game, it’s on showboating. And it’s a snapshot of exactly what’s wrong with this bunch.

You’re being dramatic. If the Tennessee corners would’ve tried to block the fake shots, this wouldn’t be an issue

And just what football player in their right mind would bite on a fake jump shot in the middle of a football game? Or rather, what idiot?? And if they did, just what did that accomplish? There was no valid excuse for that bullshite.

Some on this thread have it 100% right. No, they’re not supposed to be in tight to block - its formation and could be a setup for something down the road. But their post-snap antics are typical of the “look at me; i do what i want and want to look cool, team be darned” attitude of this grouping of players.

Considering that game, they both probably shot airballs.

I’m guessing you’re not a fan of play action either. Them running backs with that “look at me, I’m running with the ball attitude”. So selfish

I thought I’d like how the assistants can talk to the media, they’ve got more important things to do.

Apples and oranges. One has a purpose, the other does not. But I shouldn’t expect anyone that would post something as stupid as your response to understand that.

That was one of the most embarrassing moments in Bama football history. Then again, I am only 74.

Everyone knows the best play to play action fake off of is the uncontested jump shot

Agree with basically this entire statement, especially the last sentence. If the WRs do weird shite in this formation, it can lull the DBs to sleep, so that the next time we're in this formation, they'll get caught flat-footed if the WRs take off and run a route.

I get that shooting fake jump shots looks ridiculous and they could just pretend to run a fake screen or something, but it still essentially accomplishes the same thing.

ITT a bunch of people who either never played football or never played WR
