What will UGA try to do on D to slow/stop Alabama? What are the chances that it will work?
My guess...
(1) Mush rush to contain Milroe and blitz from as many different angles as they can dream up. Bull rush Proctor to free up blitz from the left.
(2) 2-gap DL and use hands to redirect RG/RT into the ground.
(3) LB's set up to flow to the edge based on which side Milroe faces after the snap. Backside LB looking for counter/cutback.
(4) Rotate safety coverage slightly to Milroe's left to force him to throw right.
(5) Jam #2 at the LoS every chance they get
(6) Deep coverage first on the right side
(4) & (6) will force Milroe toward passing shorter to the right (his worst passing area other than short/mid over the middle. Milroe passing to the left is more accurate than to the right. My guess is that the way he whips the ball with open shoulders and a 20 degree mis-alignment with his foot stepping direction when his shoulders are open.
Milroe throwing to the left side forces his shoulders and step to be closed and in better alignment. I suspect that is why his throws to the left tend to be more accurate. So UGA will try to bait him to throw short/intermediate on the right side.

If the wind is as bad as they say come Saturday that will bode very well for us if we let milroe run wild.

What weather forecast are you referring to? NOAA says the winds will be less than 9mph at kickoff:

Thanks for your thoughts Tw1st3d, always enjoy reading your posts.
Proctor will have to come to play Saturday, and our RBs will have to make the correct blocks in pass protection.

i know folks dont want to hear it, but... take milroe's first option away and be gap sound with their defense. dont rush past the qb, keep his legs in check and continually apply pressure.

How does UGA know who Milroe's 1st option will be?
Milroe has thrown 8 TDs this year
His 1st was to Law and was not his first read.
His 2nd was his first read to Ryan Williams
His 3rd was to Ryan Williams, but that wasn't his first read.
His 4th was to Kobe Prentice, who wasn't his first read.
His 5th was Ryan Williams and it was his first read.
His 6th was to Ryan Williams and it was his first read
His 7th was to Germie Bernard, not sure if that was his first read or not.
His 8th was to Josh Cuevas and it wasn't his first read.
So of his 8 TDs 3 were definitely his first read, 1 was maybe his first read, and 4 were not his first read.

UGA is very thin along the DL right now. One starter will return for this game, but another is questionable.
Kentucky didn't have the horses to capitalize. If I was Bama, I'd pound the UGA DL and wear them down.

They will not put 2 spies on Milroe.
If I were them, I'd play 1 high safety, lots of m2m coverage and pull my linebackers in tight to the line of scrimmage. Keep Milroe in the pocket. BAMA has no proven short to intermediate pass game so there's no reason to defend it.
So, stop BAMA's run game and try to disrupt the vertical passing game by pressuring Milroe and trusting their DBs to win at least half of the passes of 20+ yards.

So then why would you run cover 1? Wisconsin had the same scouting report on us and they ran a bunch of cover 3. CKD picked that shite apart.

I'd bring my linebackers up to the line of scrimmage to stop the run. I wouldn't defend the short and intermediate passing game at all. I'd play man and 1 high safety to help the corners over the top. Especially since Milroe is mostly a 1-read qb.

And they got blown out, too. So why would you even bring that up?

Well said.
The best part about this is we know CKD has been hiding a lot of what we're going to do Saturday so we should be even harder to pin down.

Because they are running cover 3 to take away the deep balls. It's not any secret what Jalen's strengths are. My point was that CKD has a really good scheme. He is hitting big plays even when teams are trying to stop them.

That might work on PS5 but we are talking about a real game. Teams are worried about Milroe taking off and gashing them. If you have all those guys running man coverage with a deep safety JM is gonna skate all over them. And you are also simplifying the reads for JM. Anybody can read man with a deep safety.

I wouldn't say Bama has no proven short to intermediate passing game. 22 of Jalen's 35 completions are within 10 to 12 yards of the LOS. When you really look at it, it is just a really small overall sample size, when you consider he is basically throwing 17 passes a game.
I don't think Kirby changes anything. Try to stop the run with 4 up front, try to generate pass rush with 4 up front, spy Jalen with one or two, blitz sometimes to mix things up, make Milroe throw into tight windows, if he beats you god bless. What make interesting is Ryan Williams cause he can take top off or catch short and go 80. If he feels he has to account for Hollywood, that could cause problems and lead to Prentice, Law and the TEs maybe getting into some space.

I don't think we'd do much m2m. It's not our strength and it allows Milroe to run for huge chunks with everyone run off.

He's gone through multiple reads enough times this season to disprove this narrative. Several times for touchdowns. I think Cuevas was his 3rd or 4th read against Wisky.

Agreed. He is scanning the field more than a lot of us suspected. It just looks that way bc he is not moving his feet and shoulders as he goes through the reads. He can still fling it all over and some of the balls are going to look a little funny bc of the mechanics. But i have come to believe he is going through his reads, even if its not perfect and sometimes looks funny.

I agree with this. I expect Georgia to play it safe most of the game. Prevent the big plays and force Bama to nickel and dime their way down the field. I think Kirby will get more aggressive though the closer Bama gets to the redzone, and that’s where the game will be won or lost.

Rewatching the game last year I have become more confident in Bama winning.
Last year a few things stood out.
Beck had 1 turnover and should have had at least 2 more. He had two INTs dropped.
Milroe didn't complete pass until the last play of the 1st quarter. He was really nervous early. He settled in after the 1st.
Milroe had a couple of dumb sacks. If he can avoid those I think UGA may be in for a long day.
