Only 2 SEC head coaches have been at their school longer than Lane has been at Ole Miss…

Current coaches of course. You ALL told me that if Lane had any success whatsoever in Oxford he would be gone within 2-3 years. What happened? And you can’t use the “nobody wants him” nonsense because that’s a lie. I think Lane goes to Florida after this season when UF finally gets rid of that zero they’ve got. But so far tRant has been more wrong about Lane Kiffin than anything else I can remember.

I think you're missing 1 huge qualifying word, like *current.

I’m still waiting in his “success”. Let me know when it happens so I don’t miss it.

They just went 11-2 and won a NY6 bowl.
Kiffin SHOULD be our HC this time next year but of course it won't happen.

This is an ignorant comment

People got fired elsewhere and Saban retired. This is his 6th year. Not exactly a long tenure

Well, he's finished 4 seasons at ole miss and hasn't made the SEC championship game or the playoff yet. There's not a whole lot of bigger teams knocking at his door.
At one point Kiffen was a hot young coach. The problem is he's 49 now. That's 1 year older than Kirby Smart, who's got two national titles.

The Rant was more wrong about Kirby Smart than anything.

I could be wrong but I think there’s a little difference in those two situations…..

I’m guilty of this. That’s the reason I wasn’t disappointed when he didn’t come here. My perception was he wouldn’t be here very long one way or another. But he made a liar out of me and is doing a fine job there.
I have no bad feelings towards him.

No one wants him. He is the most overrated coach in college football.

Kiffin got an opportunity at Blue Blood USC at the age of 35. He flubbed it.
Kiffin also got his first opportunity at a school similar to UGA historically in Tennessee. He was 7-6 there and left for USC after one year.
He also failed in the NFL going 5-15.
Kiffin is on his 4th chance as a coach, discounting FAU.
Kirby got a chance at UGA... and knocked it out of the park. His situation is different because he succeeded when he got his shot while Kiffin failed.
Kiffin isn't a youngster with talent anymore. He's a proven "okay" head coach, but not a great one. He's got 10-15 years left in him just like Kirby does. He did a bit better than Muschamp did with his chances as a head coach, but only a bit.

I’m sure he will take the UF job too if it’s offered to him.
But nothing wrong with OM good school nice facilities who knows he may stay.
The landscape with NIL and the portal has made it difficult for a good coach to keep his key players together:

Coaches are on the same parallel as the players with unlimited transfers and NIL. So the days of a Coach staying at school 5 years are over. Kiffin has been at Ole Miss four years. And he is a long term SEC coach now. Let that sink in.
Stoops has been at UK for a while and has done a solid job. Kirby at UGA is at 8-9 years. But after those two leave it is very doubtful that any coach will last 5+ years at a single institution. What is the incentive? You can no longer build a program. You are now a mini NFL and trying to manage a roster that will have more turnover than a Juco team going forward. So you will see coaches jumping from boat to boat yearly or every few years at most.

With all due respect, I suggest you do a little more studying on the two situations. There’s no good comparison.

I think tRant said... multiple times... that lane wouldn't win a title at ole piss. So far they are 100% accurate.

Bingo. People build up Kiffin to be some mastermind. He’s just a fairly good coach. I only say fairly good because he had 2 good seasons at Ole Miss. Before that he was an average to below average coach. He’s failed everywhere he’s coached at, other than FAU.
I find it hilarious that people say BK sucks so much here, but his first 2 seasons he won 9 games and made the SECCG when he inherited an absolute dumpster fire.
Kiffin blew arse his first 2 seasons at Ole Miss.
