Moved to SEC Rant as Paul is no longer a Tiger.

Obvious bridge coach.
Underwhelming but Tanner could’ve and has done way worse

Now you have to move all the old Saban threads from the last ten years.
Poultry owes you some serious cash if you get that done by The USC game.

ETA.
Does anyone find the salary disproportionately larger compared to the incentives?

Quick math in my head and he could rack up another $250k ish

Many LSU fans have shown they don’t do well when LSU coaches move on to other programs: Saban, Murphy, Johnson, and now Mainiero are examples.
I am sure I am leaving one or two out.

At this point, I feel sorry for Carolina fans. Y'all are too good of a fanbase to have Ray Tanner as an AD.

I made $1.2M in overtime last year doing just this!

This wasnt a bad hire. Unlike DVL he has won a title before. Which at this point I feel bad for hog fans. Consistently having talented team, only for DVH to choke in the postseason

Mainieri let LSU slip behind several SEC programs towards the back end of his LSU career including Vandy, Florida, Arkansas and Tennessee
He had some health issues which meant he was delegating responsibilities to assistants and he had Cain handling too much responsibility
He wasn't involved with pitching at all and he left LSU with a decimated pitching staff, LSU ace under first year of Jay Johnson was Hilliard who couldn't even crack 90 on the radar gun.
He also prided himself on defense over offense and it showed towards the end of his run.
He will bring discipline into USC program but I don't see this as anything more then a bridge to the next coach and if successful enough USC probably promotes Lee into the role when PM has had enough of the wild roster fluctuation era he is getting into.

LSU fans are more interested in this than South Carolina fans are

Paul can bury the tarp once and for all.
I like Mainieri and hope he does well. The SEC is more fun with a strong South Carolina. He had a few down years at the end, but he did great things for LSU. Hopefully with his time off he has physically healed. He had some neck/back issues that very clearly affected him in the dugout.

I guess they are projecting a mid season exit after not living up to expectations the 4 previous years.
