"You got kids that are jumping around in the portal and teams are paying these kids, somebody is. You snag a guy and he pitches you to the World Series or hits you to the World Series — it happened last year and there's some of that going on. I mean, it's about who can get a break now and get an older kid to come in here and fill in. I mean, Ilook at SEMO's team, that's one of the oldest teams we've faced all year.

Now, they got a freshman playing second base that hit a home run today and that's rare these days, especially in the mid-majors. They've been really old. That's what you get. 7 of his top 10 position players were from the portal.
At least one of his weekend starters was from the portal.
His "last year" comment is bullshite too. He went after Skenes and Maui Ahuna. He just didn't get them.

He isn't wrong but it is part of the game now. He will either get on the train of doing it or he will not want to deal with it and retire like Saban.

Sounds like ol’ Dave is taking a shot at last years CWS championship. Hey Dave, you got guys from the portal too, just didn’t get it done. Also, to make an excuse that SEMO has some older players ? You’ve got 2 pitchers that have been there 6 years counting Covid. And finally, to say that without Smith they are only “average”. Imagine being a current player or high school commit and seeing that line.

No doubt. I agree he is a hypocrite and just pissy about losing and looking for something to blame. I was just pointing out he will end up like Saban and retire if he don't want to do it because it is part of the game.

SEMO, a 35 win 4 seed, whose starting lineup consists of 4 guys hitting sub .300, and whose top starting pitchers have 5+ ERAs, beat you. You have one of the most talented lineups in the country and arguably the top rotation in the country. You lose to a 4 seed from the OVC and your only excuse is "they were older than us and it's not fair."
I would be irate if this clown represented my alma mater in any form or fashion.
