Friends, this is not the end of college football. Now it IS the end to the game as we have known it. But the schools and conferences will have to change and, yes, the fans are going to have to change their expectations of what the game is supposed to be.

He can go frick himself. I'll turn the fricking TV off. I don't know why the frick these people think they are somehow owed my viewership and that it's my responsibility to change.

That's not how it works. It wasn't how it worked when I quit watching baseball in the 90s. It wasn't how it worked when I quit watching Nascar 20 years ago. It wasn't how it worked when I quit watching the NFL 15 years ago and it's not going to be how it works when college football decides to abandon the things that made it popular either.

What you can expect from college football after it's done selling off it's tradition and everything that made it great is just another minor league sports team.

RIP college football.

You’ll still watch. You’ll complain but you’ll still watch.

You lament what you created. Allowing Saban to cheat with impunity is what led to where we are now.

When only a handful of B1G and SEC teams were paying players, no one was freaking out like this.

Now that everyone is paying players, you guys are like......

Not really man, you'd be surprised. Many of us already do watch less than we used to. It's very easy to not be that invested anymore.

Thats not the reason, and you should know this being a Texas fan. It's the sport changing from fans feeling a part of the identity of the program to a corporate sport where none of us even feel close to the program anymore. Used to have such intense state and regional pride. Now? It's like pro-ball. Too much red tape, average fan priced out of big games, environment is not like it used to be and that is what drew us all in. It's not what we grew up enjoying. You can blame whatever you'd like, but it's been happening for over 20 years now and only continuing in that direction.

I've tried to be positive but they've screwed this up every step of the way. I can't see it lasting much longer.

At least I have my Saturdays back.

Definitely helps, but even if UF was a title contender the sport is starting to suck out loud. 1-year free agents, bidding wars. It's trash and they don't seem to be doing anything constructive to fix it.

I loved college football so much I made it a point to watch as many games as possible. Now I really don't give a shite if I catch anyone other than Alabama. I'm sure I'll still watch some of the bigger SEC games, but my interest is waning.

I didn't watch last year outside the few games Alabama played on CBS. I didn't watch the SECCG and I didn't watch the playoffs either. I doubt I'll watch any of them this year since CBS isn't broadcasting them any more.

I grew up listening to college football on the radio, so it doesn't bother me to do that. However, my interest has dropped well beyond just that.

I went from being someone who watched college football all day on Saturdays and then would go back and watch other games later in the week and/or all those little G5 Thursday/Friday night games to someone who will listen to better Alabama games on the radio and/or just watch some highlights.

Overall, we already have the NFL if we just want to watch mercenaries with no real connection to the teams play a bunch of games that have very little meaning until the final few games. College football was better because it wasn't like that. Every game every week mattered. If you lost just once, that was likely the end of your championship hopes, and it was fricking awesome.

Things are evolving and hopefully a sustainable model with some rules will ultimately be achieved. I don't like it, but I haven't liked a lot of changes in college football (including the lengths they go to to keep the QB from actually being hit). The fact is though, when my team tees it up I'll be watching and when other teams we're battling for rankings etc. are playing I'll be watching them too. And I realize no one running college football cares what I think.
