I feel like some of what is alleged is a big time NCAA violation even in today's climate. Especially when the player and his representation are snitching them this hard. Wonder if Billy gets fired with cause and this booster disassociated by 2025?

Former University of Florida football recruit Jaden Rashada is suing coach Billy Napier, along with a big-time Gator booster and others, claiming they defrauded him out of millions of dollars by backing out of a promised $13.85 million agreement after the quarterback had turned down offers tied to other programs.
The lawsuit filed Tuesday includes an allegation that Rashada signed his National Letter of Intent to Florida on Dec. 21, 2022, less than an hour after Napier promised the player's father a $1 million "partial payment" that day upon signing. Rashada never received the $1 million, and the boosters never fulfilled the deal, the lawsuit states.
Rashada is the first known college athlete to sue his coach or a booster due to a dispute of a name, image and likeness (NIL) deal. His case, filed in the U.S. District Court in the Northern District of Florida, comes during a tumultuous time for the relatively new NIL market for college athletes. A mixture of state laws and evolving NCAA guidance dictates the roles that coaches, schools and donor groups known as collectives all play in facilitating the deals athletes can now strike to make money.
"Sadly, unethical and illegal tactics like this are more and more commonplace in the Wild West that is today's college football landscape," the lawsuit states. "As the first scholar-athlete to take a stand against such egregious behavior by adults who should know better, Jaden seeks to hold Defendants accountable for their actions and to expose the unchecked abuse of power that they shamelessly wielded."
ESPN has reached out to Hathcock and the University of Florida for comment.

You would think Jaden Rashada would be a household name these days but he's gonna hold a clipboard at UGA and is probably realizing his best chance to get any significant money has evaporated.
You better choose wisely or make them earn it from a NIL standpoint when promising whatever kind of money he was offered.

Certainly if it can be shown Napier personally promised money, he's toast. That's one of the few no-no's left in all of this. I don't know if the NCAA can enforce booster disassociation if everything was done w/n the perview of the collective vs he was out there on his own offering him money.

Forgot he was at UGA. Kirby Smart or the broader UGA brain trust definitely wanted this suit to happen. Why didn't he file this suit when at Arizona State? lmao.

Why would a coach promise anything? The whole idea of the NIL charade is to have plausible deniability and a middleman to talk to.
Jaden Rashada has been chasing the $ since day one. No shade there, that's the game now. But he chased it to multiple schools and wound up playing himself. Now he's bouncing around trying to find money anywhere he can.
A "verbal promise" without any evidence isn't going to hold up. Now if Rashada has a recording of this, of course Napier will be fired. But he doesn't. He's still just chasing $.
This is the risk of playing the market. Sometimes you're left with nothing but a scholly to Arizona State.

this has Kirby Smart's stench all over it.
"Come to Georgia, Jaden. We'll fund your lawsuit against that shitty arse school in Gainesville." - Kirby Smart.... probably.

Sounds like the boosters are looking for a reason to get rid of Sunbelt Billy to avoid the buyout.

Rashada is a cancer. Florida should not be upset they lost him. They dodged a bullet. Wonder what Kirby thinks about this?

Why would Kirby care? Florida is zero threat to UGA. This brings drama that I doubt Kirby wants

I don’t think anyone needs help beating Florida these days.

Why would Kirby want to hasten Napier's exit from Florida?

Why would Kirby want this to happen? Keeping Napier on staff is far better for UGA from a competitive standpoint than any sanctions the NCAA could dish out.

I was over him when we had him committed. He's trying to cash in from the get-go. Like I said, I get it, that's the sport now.
But be smart about it. It's a business, act like it. Make your deal and stick with it.
Based on his limited showing at ASU, he'll likely need to get his money in the next 3 years because it seems unlikely he'll be anything more than a practice player in the NFL. Especially if he's spending his college years trying to squeeze a few more bucks instead of, you know, learning how to play football at a high level.
This is just how CFB is now, and it sucks.

if you're Kirby and/or the UGA admin, what would you rather have at Florida?
Consistency? Or what is currently a revolving door of coaches?

On the surface, I'd agree with this but causing an unexpected termination and NCAA sanctions to further immiserate your biggest rival simply cannot be avoided.

Consistently bad would be ideal...a new coach gives the fans hope
