All kidding aside he was out of nowhere as far as I know. I read that he even had a bad fall before last season when he went off.

Please show me how Arkansas has been better in the last 10 years or more consistent? I seem to recall Florida, LSU, Ole Miss, Vande, TN and Ags but maybe I am just ignoring Arkansas success last 10 years?

You are welcome, here is the entire format.
The 2024 SEC Baseball Tournament will continue to feature 12 teams and will remain set to begin on Tuesday, May 21. Seeds 5-12 will meet in a single elimination format on the opening day of the tournament, followed by traditional double-elimination play Wednesday-Friday. The tournament will return to single elimination play on Saturday. A total of 17 games will be played throughout the tournament.

Out of nowhere. He was 6’5 195 lbs out of HS and was heading to Rhodes College in Memphis to play baseball and football until his HS coach at his small private school in Marietta talked Stricklin into giving him a PWO spot at UGA. His HS coach recognized that his swing was really good, he just needed to add muscle/weight and face better pitching to gain reps.
Stricklin agreed but on the condition that he redshirt to bulk up and play in a Summer league to get reps (Condon’s HS team was fine but he was on like the B squad for his travel team - definitely not the profile of an SEC caliber player, let alone what he has become).
He ended up adding about 20 lbs his RS year and word started getting around Fall of 2022 that they had something. Spring 2023 rolls around and he ends up breaking the SEC freshman HR record with 25 and then obviously he’s doing what he’s doing this year.
Dude is an absolute unicorn in the truest sense. Nobody could have predicted he would do this.

Yeah he’s a first timer, especially since Arkansas has consistently won the most games since 2017. If coaches and schools were measured on national championships, then FSU has a horrible tradition and coach Martin isn’t a hall of fame coach. Forget the fact he won so many games and made it to Omaha 23 times. So dumb

Baseball is so fickle. You can have the best team in the nation (hogs in 21, vols in 22) and still not get to Omaha or play for a trophy. In this sport, the best team doesn’t always win.
