I know others think this is stupid.. But I personally love it, shows that we are serious about keeping up in basketball for future recruiting, coaching as a program.

He would do very well here. One caveat, his son need a job too? Hmmm

There are valid criticisms but this is a much bigger hire than any other name discussed. Wade is overrated. Jans and Tang were meh. Beard was the only solid name and his record can't hold a candle to Cal's.

We would be getting a hall of fame coach with a title and 6 final fours. His coaching record isn't much less than our entire history of success. Definition of a splash hire. Only question would be how much he has left in the tank. I think he has a run or two left in him.

It's been said 3+ mil on build the roster for the right coach.

Results dependent as far as annual budget.

A top team can be assembled for less than that amount currently, allegedly.

This might be a good time to remind everyone that Arkansas has a TON of money — especially when certain big donors are motivated.

I feel like that’s not something most of the general public realizes.

65 isn’t young but Sampson and Barnes are still doing well at 70 so I figure we can get at least 5 years.

He apparently alluded to changing his offense up some since he was getting so much criticism from UK fans so hopefully if we get him he can adjust it somewhat.

He's really only been underwhelming since the season after the canceled COVID tournament. That's four years of missed tourney, first round, second round, first round.

He's obviously on the downhill slide. The only question for me is, is he burnt out at Kentucky, or is he more or less done and we're his retirement gig that he halfasses, ala Danny Ford?

Edit: He's also 65. If we get five good years out of him and a couple of pretty deep runs, I'd say that was a successful outing. We just keep squandering momentum. If we're not going to get Chris Beard, Will Wade, etc, then we need to get short term hires like this and try again in a few years. A hire like this at least gives you hope. A hire like Chris Jans, Jerome Tang… Sam Pittman… it's just hard to care.

Beard will be making his way to Lexington if this Cal thing is true.

Beard isn't as highly valued to the world as he is on razorback message boards.

He ends up in Lexington it will make HY look like a genius in conducting coaching searches, things will have been that large of a clusterfrick for Kentucky.

If that salary is true, then good. We need to stop making the football coach the highest paid on campus just because it's the SEC and that's what we do. We're located and built to sustain baseball and basketball success. I know they're not the biggest money maker, but until we get serious about football, I'd rather watch sports we're good at 2/3 of the year than watch us pay 5-6 million a year for a coach who can't consistently get us to bowl games. frick that. If we sack up and take a Lance Leipold or a Mike Norvell, fine. But we don't ever do that.

Oh and Kentucky has already been down the road of substance abuse/reliance hc in Sutton and BCG, they've learned their lesson.

Supposedly funded by Tyson. And the rumors are coming from a man with a plane.

This is huge for replacing Cal down the road, shows your serious about basketball.

It's about damn time. Arkansas can be a tourney first weekend out mainstay just by relying on 4 year talent the state produces alone.

I’m willing to eat lots of crow, but I don’t like this hire. Kentucky wanted him fired today…

More like Tyson came in swinging the big dick after LR was caught tucking per usual and HY was watching gymnastics.
