It would liven up the Kentucky rivalry

You can say what you want, but that’s a monster, monster hire.

I mean Cal would recruit great for us. Maybe not as well as at Kentucky but Muss levels or better.
And we'd have an offense.
The question is do we have to spend $30 million that could otherwise be spent on NIL, just for his buyout?
I can't even imagine our cheap arse boosters ponying up that much

I don’t believe there is a buyout.

I’d imagine part of the deal is UK waives the buyout

If Cal leaves on his own there's no buyout

I can get on board with this. We get ~$1mil from USC, no buyout on our new coach, the best recruiter in the biz... I smell some extra recruit buying money

Watch this space. My phone has been blowing up on Cal/Arkansas talk all day. I will say this: He has always held the Arkansas job in high regard.

So I was talking to someone a couple weeks back who was on a coach search and he laid it out pretty well to me…and I think it kind of fits our program right now.
His belief was you don’t hire just for next year, but you hire based on what the program can be like in 5-10 years when he moves on. Having that thought, Cal would be a good hire to keep the program stable, keep it nationally relevant, and also likely put another program on our schedule looking for a coach (Alabama).

75% of the remainder contract if fired.
He can opt out of contract to work in the AD as a special assistant for $950k for the remaining length of the contract.
He can take a HC position elsewhere for $0.
Would he remain the second highest paid HC at Arkansas?

B.s.
Remember how he talked about us when he was at Memphis

He said the series would only hurt Memphis.
Which was true at the time.
Their AD also thought Arkansas owed them a home football game at the time.

I'm ok with this. We get 5ish years out of him, he can re-recruit or buy our players and salvage this off season. By the end of the 5ish years, Hunter will be gone.

I like it more than I don't like it, but it still feels like we're doing Kentucky a favor.

We are. But self preservation has to be the priority here.
