To get rid of Cal, hire a new staff, and basically hire a whole new roster for next year….way too expensive

There’s a difference in fan satisfaction and an AD taking clear action to make his case for a “for cause” firing. Which is what is happening right now.

I think you're about to see an Ohio State level NIL push from the Cats.

To win what? More games, More fans, Win the SEC regular season. Win the SECT. Advance past sweet 16. A lot of questions.

Already discussed on 1st page…

Has to meet the demands of the AD…next year, has to be competitive in regular season, SEC tournament and advanced far in the NCAA.

Those demands sound a little hollow on the surface. Be competitive and advance far in the NCAA?
IF I were Cal, I'd demand very specific parameters from the AD in terms of performance and W/L record. Belle mentioned in another post that he could be terminated "for cause" if he doesn't meet the AD's demands..... If I were the employee, I'm damn sure making a few demands of my own as it relates to my possible termination without a buyout. It sounds like the UK AD wants to amend his current contract to include a termination clause.

They’re supposed to meet tomorrow to hash it all out. Nobody knows at this point exactly what Barnhart will put in writing, so I doubt it’ll be all that vague.

This looks like a solid plan for Mitch.

I'm not trying to be a jackass. just questioning the specifics.
The man is under contract where I'm sure performance enhancers are specified, i.e. meet a certain W/L record get a $$ bonus, win the SEC get a $$ bonus, make the NCAA tourney more $$, advance in the tourney more $$.
I seriously doubt a coach of Cal's caliber has a contract that includes a termination clause for poor performance resulting in termination "for cause" rendering the buyout null and void. A Coach like Calipari carries all the leverage in contract negotiations with very favorable terms.

They can't fire him for poor performance with no buyout. If that was the case no coach would ever receive his buyout. To be fired "for cause" he would have to be caught cheating or banging a volleyball player.

You’re fine. We’re all asking the same questions at this point. If he isn’t fired, what does that look like? What will be the benchmarks of a new contract that doesn’t frick us running if he underperforms again? Does Cal even agree to it? I believe you’re correct in that there isn’t those trigger clauses in his current contract.
It’s also worth noting if Barnhart fricks this up, his arse is also on the line. He wasn’t exactly wearing a crown of roses with Kentucky fans before this issue.

Did you just post something from Rupps Rafters as a source of info. Lulz

Time for Kentucky to cut out the cancer. It's only 33M. We paid 75M to get rid of Fisher.

We had the number 1 class in the country and number 2 next year. We could bring in an NBA all-star team and have and Cal would mess it up.

You have more faith in Mitch than I do. Remember the MOU on a napkin with BCG?
I think it will be deliberately vague to make it look successful even if it isn't.
Mitch is all about money.

We'll have Kige Ramsey host bikini car washes to raise money if we have to!

That is kind of a BS statement. The reason Cal is in hot water is that he had the horses this year to win it all but couldnt put a defense on the floor better than 324th in the NCAA. That is mostly poor coaching game/management.
