I didn't say anything about winning ranked series. A preseason #1 in football who drops 2 tough games out of 6 will likely still be ranked in the teens. The same thing is happening here.

UF is a thorn in the rankings side. Damn near 10 losses already but haven't dropped a weekend series yet. It looks silly to have a team with so many losses at the top of the polls, but even sillier to have teams above them they just took 2/3 from ranked above them.
It is rare that a team beats top teams on the weekend and can't beat shitty teams during the week.

Also, I was going to say that it will sort itself out, but with FSU as our midweek game we could have another 2-2 week and not move down.

then explain shite like this
Dallas Baptist and ECU have been much better baseball programs than Georgia over the last decade, it's not that complicated. If Georgia keeps playing well in the SEC, then they will move up rapidly.

One last thing. The polls are fun for debate but it is way too early to worry about them. Even though everyone wants to win and be #1, I am good with Arkansas carrying it all season long. They can have it.

Not sure how a 1-3 week kept us in the rankings.

Last #1 seed to win it all was 1999 Miami.. no one wants that voodoo..

Oh, I had no idea you meant football
I don’t think Wake should be unranked, despite there being 30-35 teams with better résumés. I’d have them somewhere in the 15-20 range.
I really don’t get what the point of your hypothetical is. Yeah, the AP Poll can be like that in the first several weeks, but baseball is a much more result driven sport. There’s no such thing as the eye test in baseball

My bad. I thought I said that.
But it kind of does. WF is supremely talented with a bunch of MLB draft prospects. They have recent history and the season has yet to reach its halfway point. They’re going to get the benefit of the doubt.

Oh there definitely is..
A lot of coaches are still tinkering with their staffs and lineups this time of the year.. and if a team has 1-2 really good pitchers, they can do a lot of damage in regionals & super regionals.. and ultimately in Omaha.
In addition, maybe a really good team is just playing like shite and whoever is doing the rankings knows that they will turn it around.
So, yes, there most definitely is an eye test in baseball..
eta: I'll give you an example. Texas is not a good baseball team even if Pierce pulls a rabbit out of his arse and wins the Big 12.

For the second time this season, Hagen Smith is the SEC pitcher of the week.

Probably not the last time either.

When has Dallas Baptist been better than GA over the last decade when you factor SOS? and what does 2014 have to do with 2024?

gators apparently aiming to prove to everyone this year how 'meaningless' tuesday games are

DBU has been consistently solid for a decade plus.
11 regional appearances since 2011 and they won two of them. They’re been in lesser conferences (Indy before) yet won 8 conference titles. They’re like a ECU lite.

I don’t disagree, I just think it’s gone too far. Like I said, their résumé at this point is probably not even top 35.
If you want to keep them in the Top 20 because of their reputation, I’m fine with that. Reputations certainly matter.
However, if they are going to be ranked higher than they deserve for the first several weeks, that should be something that is kept in mind as we go further into the season.
For example, UNC had a better résumé than Wake coming into the weekend.
UNC swept GT (#44 ELO), while Wake took 2 of 3 from a bad Louisville team.
If you are already giving Wake the benefit of the doubt and they are ranked higher than their résumé calls for, they should not get to move up 4 spots for winning a series against a bad team.
Teams like UNC, who continue to have a better résumé than Wake should jump them as the season goes on.

Good for Florida for finally doing something this season, but they also didnt get penalized for a pretty rough start to the season
I mean, UF has weekend series wins over LSU, aTm, and Miami. Their first series being canceled really hampers their overall record a bit too.
