List of current FBS HCs who have killed players or assistants

1. Sonny Dykes
2. Lance Leipold*
3. Brian Kelly
4. Kirby Smart**
*Not enough info to determine culpability/preventability
**Stretch, but I’ll allow it.
Durkin is the only coach fired for killing. The vast majority of killer coaches kept current job but never got another HC position. Mike Stoops is a popular example though that incident is also inconclusive.

The kid Kelly killed was neither a player nor an assistant (at least not a football assistant).

Plus the ND kid was not ordered to do what he did, he did it on his own....

Even if you believe Jalen Carter was responsible for the accident (he wasn't, but let's assume he was for this exercise), if a coach bears responsibility for a player killing someone then this list would be much longer than this. Every coach who ever had a player even remotely tied to even a manslaughter charge (Carter wasn't charged) would add the coach to the list.
For example, Trey Holly for LSU would put Kelly on this list a second time.

Not really that much longer.
Dawgs continue to deflect, Kirby Kay Ivey is a killer.

Actually the Holly case is under investigation as Holly has written a very compelling letter to the media and LSU that this was mistaken identity. He may be cleared.

I looked into this but felt like it would take a week to dive that deep. I added that Kirby was a stretch because everyone knows drinking and driving is bad, but there could have been a culture problem and it is irresponsible to let people drive “company” cars without specialized training and procedures in place. Also, a group of employees driving company cars might be considered “on the job.”

Let's see. I'm a MO fan and want to feel better about myself. I can: 1. tout my teams' success stories, or 2. try to throw shade on other teams, their coaches or their fanbase and try and drag them down to my teams' level.

Nope. Sure, I was using well-known CBK facts as a starting point, but these are legitimate research topics that nobody I know of has ever reported on. This one particular I find very interesting.
I once left a very lucrative career because I wasn’t getting the resources to achieve my goals and keep my guys safe at the same time. I figured was easier to start a new career than to have someone get hurt or worse on my watch. This hits close to home for me.

If you made this list 40-50 years ago, Pat Dye and Bear Bryant would be in prison. Woody Hayes and Vince Lombardi also.

I guess you didn't read the story when it came out.

Kelly admitted that he should have done something to stop this when the weather(wind) was getting really bad. Kelly did know about it if he didn't actually order someone to be up there filming the activity for that day.
This is similar to what happened at PSU with Joe Paterno. I think both Brian Kelly and Joe Paterno said they should have done more about the incident.

Shows you the IQ of a lot of the trolls on the board. Really needs a good cleansing.

Kirby has killed Vol football for 7 straight seasons. In blowout fashion on top of it.
