The SEC as a whole as stepped it up in the last 10 years.
2013 - SEC only had 3 teams in the tournament.
#3 Seed Florida, #9 Missouri, and #11 Ole Miss (automatic qualifier)
2024 - 8 teams, with the lowest seed being #9.
ETA: and I don't think Kentucky has dropped much, their competition has become much harder.

I'm not saying it's a direct result of Bruce, but it certainly seems his arrival and Auburn's rise has accompanied the SEC becoming/returning as much bigger force in CBB.
And to the extent we can trace some of that to Pearl, it's not surprising that watching a perennially awful team become pretty competitive with one of the best atmospheres in all of CBB would inspire other SEC schools to take it up a notch too.

Funny I don't see powerhouse U of Hog listed anywhere on there.

How many NCAA tournament appearances you have? Final Fours? Compared to Arkansas? That’s what I thought, bitch.

I'm ready for the hogs to be back. Musselman is annoying but always respect the Hogs. Time for them to move along.

Pearl is definitely part of it but the league as a whole just started hiring better coaches in the mid to late 2010’s. Instead of settling for Tony Barbee, Rick Ray, Darrin Horn, Donnie Tyndall, etc and being OK with losing, schools just decided to start taking it more seriously eventually.

Yep and while the media keeps giving Sankey credit for the mandate it really wasn't Sankey ... it was Slive who declared it, demanded it and made it official.
