A&M gave Jimbo an extension prior to the 2021 season and then fired him three seasons later, paying a record setting $76 million+ buyout.
Sark received an extension this offseason and would receive $54.4 million if fired at the end of this season.

There is no excuse. A&M deserves to be vilified.

What?! Sark's Texas football team never won a bowl game? Is this true? Even Drinkwitz won one.

Will Texas fans ever learn that it's not about how much money you have, it's about how much you are willing to spend and where you spend it?

A&M has had a problem with guaranteed contracts for 25 years.
1999 - R.C Slocum signed to a 7-year guaranteed extension. He was fired 4 years into that contract
2005 - Dennis Franchione signed to a 6-year guaranteed extension. He was fired 3 years into that contract
2007 - Mike Sherman signed to a 7-year guaranteed contract. He was fired after 4 seasons.
2014 - Kevin Sumlin signed to a 6-year guaranteed extension. He was fired 4 years into that contract
2016 - Billy Kennedy signed to a 5-year guaranteed extension. He was fired 3 years into that contract.
2021 - Jimbo Fisher signed to a 3 year extension to an already guaranteed 10-year contract with 7 years remaining on the original. He was fired 3 years into that extension.

Our spending isn’t out of line for the most part. Though we do invest heavily in Olympic sports.

Did you know A&M is the only P5 Texas school that hasn’t played for a national championship in football, basketball or baseball since 1940?

Do any Texas fans believe this is actually good for the school?
You guys had garbage coaches prior to Sark and the stands were still full

what do you mean by this? and, believe what's good for the school? i mean none of this shite is actually good for any school, it's purely a money grab. i wish i could just forget about college sports altogether. i'd sure be a hell of a lot more productive.

If someone ever came up with an effective therapy or drug for that they would be murdered within a month...after becoming a billionaire.

Knowing how/when to spend it matters
A&M doesn't understand that.

I expect it to be about where most schools are.
I'm more speaking to the way Texas fans act like they can go buy anything they want "because we're rich". But they never actually do.
For example: "We can just pay Saban $15 million a year". And then Texas turns around and hires Sark from the bargin bin. And Saban didn't even have a buyout. I think the first time Texas was going to get Saban as Mack was fired it was $10 million.
It's that kind of crap I've heard from Texas fans for decades. It's how much you are willing to spend, not how much you have. And I think you'll find your spending is pretty close to normal.

I dunno…. Could be understood now
I’d say that was a pretty big lesson learned…

Every now and then, I’ll just think about that and be like “I can’t believe that fricking happened.”
