Tennessee Baseball…

Tennessee's 159 victories since the start of the 2021 season are the most of any team in the country, 13 wins more than the second place Texas, which has 146 in that same span. The Vols are the only team in the country to record multiple seasons of 50 or more wins in the last three years.
To be where they are at now compared to what the Vols was in 2018 when Vitello took over is simply amazing. Say what you want about him, but there is no denying he turned a dead program into a national contender quick. He took over a team that won 7 conference games(2017) to now being in Omaha 2 of the last 3 years.
While the Vols haven’t won the National Title yet, I do believe Vitello will get his first title quicker than Bianco did for Ole Miss. but let’s take a look at the coaches in the SEC and how long it took them to get their first title as a HC.
Tennessee is also the only school in the SEC to make Omaha 2 of the last 3 years also
Lemonis- 7th year (2021 M-State)
Johnson- 10th year (2023 LSU)
Bianco- 25th year (2022 Ole Miss)
Corbin- 12th year (2014 Vandy)
Notable Coach’s with 0:
DVH- 25 years as D1 HC
Vitello- 6 years all at Tennessee.
I think we can all agree on that Lemonis winning a title was a fluke considering what he’s done with that program since. It’s clear that he only won because of the loaded team that he was left with. I know everyone likes to hate on Vitello, but I think he’s ahead of a lot of the coaches named above in the same time frame. He was in Omaha in his 3rd as a HC(didn’t count Covid year) with a team that won 7 SEC games year before he took over.

Its just so hard to predict baseball. You gotta be good enough to get there, have your down stretches (because every team has them) come at times when they are of little consequence, and then STILL get a some breaks and bounces your way. He should win one, but I'm not gonna put a timeline on it.

You should worry about the Gamecock board.this is the “SEC Rant”. Tennessee is in the SEC, in fact they are the part of the reason the SEC exist today. So I’ll talk about Tennessee baseball on the rant. If you don’t want to read about Tennessee baseball, then don’t open it.

Lemonis and Johnson both won titles at their schools in less time than Vitello has been at Tenner.

The reasons why people hate on Vitello have nothing to do with coaching baseball.

Imagine coming to the rant to get reassurance that Vitello is a good coach.

Obviously reading comprehension is not your strength. I clearly stated as a HC. There college baseball careers as a HC started before they got to State and LSU. Vitello was a rookie HC taking over a dead program, while Johnson and Lemonis took over programs that was already loaded with talent. Hard to compare Vitello FIRST 6 years of his career to Johnson LAST 3 years of his career at LSU. As a HC, Vitello is doing just as good if not better at this time in his career as anyone else in the SEC their first 6 years.

This where your logic fails You are just assuming Vols will do it. Vols may never make Omaha again for all we know.

That would require them to shut the program down completely and that’s not a realistic prospect.

Has he killed someone? Has he committed sexual assault? What about covering up crimes committed by his players? By all accounts, kids love playing for him, and he is very competitive. I would think the fans that don’t like him, would love him if he was their coach.

Wonder why Serraneaux doesn't respond to this thread?
I guess you have to log out and get back on your phone?

Nah, pretty much everyone predicted LSU would win the CWS title last year. Baseball is not some game of luck. The best team needs to prove it in the postseason. LSU does that.

Been watching SEC baseball since Skip started building his LSU dynasty. Vitello is the first SEC HC who was ejected & subsequently suspended for shoving an umpire. First SEC HC to have one of his players ejected for dog cursing an umpire, using the "F" word in the process. Vols turning into aggies in claiming titles for every little thing. Except the one that counts : National Championships.
