I think this is most surprising out of anything. I understand NC with Charlotte and the crazy growth in the triangle.
But what's the deal with the SC? Old farts flocking to HH & Charleston?

South Carolina's appeal is likely due to a combination of lower cost of living, comfortable climate, and ease of access to outdoor activities, as well as job growth in the healthcare and tech industries. Per some Economic website.

My take: The Greenville-Spartanburg area is growing the right way. Spend a few days there and you will see why. My number 1 local to permanently squat if I'm ever moved to come back to the States full time. I'd still be all Dawg though.

I moved from south Charlotte to savannah. Charlotte has straight grown past rock hill fort mill Tega cay(not sure I spelled that one right) and isn't stopping. Also east Charlotte(Monroe indianland) is growing into
South carolina. Savannah is doing the same thing. It's growing into Hardeeville ridgeland bluffton and bluffton had already grown into hilton and Beaufort. Also charleston is growing and the ace of basin is the only thing keeping it from growing into Beaufort. Greenville is the biggest metro area in the state and it's exploding as well.

Young families moving to Charleston and Greenville, Columbia/lex/chapin to a lesser extent. Moved to Charleston from Columbia to take advantage of a more fertile restaurant refrigeration market (best decision I ever made) and every other tag I see is out of state in my neighborhood, it’s crazy.

Why not? They are both wonderful. Try visiting on your next vacation!

The entire state is growing like crazy. Ain't a bad place to live. Wages are generally not great but cost of living is lower than most places. Schools are not fantastic but if parents are involved any school is a good school, if parents are merely warehousing their kids no school is a good school. Aiken, North Augusta, Greenville / Spartanburg and even Anderson is BOOMING and not just retirement aged people although they also are growing like wild. The low country is getting as bad as south florida for snow birds though but the upstate and midlands are pretty, pretty, pretty good....
