SIAP...it appears Texas A&M's NIL money is more coal than oil

I like A&M, always have. Great school, etc., but they can't seem to buy a break despite all the moolah they seemingly have. Bless their collective hearts.... LINK

All hat, no cattle, as the saying goes. Pretty obvious that they’ve run out of money after 20 years of desperately trying to keep up with Texas

He's mad because his transfer cost him money that he didn't know it was going to cost him. Turns out, nobody was contractually obligated to keep paying him when he went to Ole Miss. Sorry, Walt...you really should read contracts, my man.

Ah, so there are contractual obligations. And it was not just ridiculous cash being handed out as was claimed by so many.
In retrospect… Really makes all those cheating allegations sound like bullshite.

Reading the average, financially illiterate southern bubba's interpretation of this episode makes your realize why old SEC states lead the nation in bankruptcy rate per capita.
A&M structures a contract intelligently and then enforces said contract appropriately. All the dumb fuc%ing cletuses here think we didn't have the money to pay.
Here is my PSA, inbreds. you had your 2006 Dodge Charger repo'd because you could not pay the high interest loan.
Walt had his NIL repo'd because he and his posse apparently didn't flip past page one of the agreement which obviously had conditions he was supposed to fulfill. He probably realized that just a few days ago and now has the sads.

I dunno 5-7 followed by 7-6. Calling us Texas 8&4 seems to be giving us too much credit these days.
What exactly did these highly ranked dudes do on the field to earn NIL? Evan Stewart played half the season and got majority of his yards against scrubs. Nolen looks like a JAG out there to me at least compared to what you’d expect from a #1 overall high school recruit.
If they weren’t getting paid then NIL doing exactly what it should in theory. Who’s clamoring for autographs from losers? Seems like they expected to get paid without producing.
An indictment to A&M NIL would be if a player like Manziel left (had he been around during NIL)

Word is he had to pay back big money. You can thank his daddy for pimping him out. Ole Miss is more than matching what A&M was doing so don't feel bad for Walter.

This. And every fanbase here on the rant should be for more restrictive contracts like that. Hopefully cut down on all this free agency every year.

We will keep paying head coaches for years after we part ways with them
Let’s all be honest is it unreasonable that a player would think he would get to continue getting paid after he left for another university?

I'm told A&M's collective still owns his NIL rights. So not sure what Ole Miss would be paying for - pay for play (isn't that still technically illegal?)
I'm sure Kiffin would love to get out of this deal.

You guys need to get on the same page.
Did Ags spend $20 million on NIL class 2 years ago or not.
This people on this site.... good lawd.

Actually, it is against the NIL rules to contractually require someone to attend a particular school to get NIL money.
They work around it in the contract to make it work out the same way. Often it has midweek "appearances" at a venue in the town the college is located to make it difficult for someone not at the school to make it, but technically they can't say "you only get this money if you're at A&M".
While NIL has turned into buying players... on paper it's not about buying players. It's about companies paying players to advertise their products.

That A&M intelligence must be why y’all have won 10+ games twice in the last 28 years right? All of us dumb southeastern poors really need financial advice from the idiots who just had to pay Jimbo Fisher $77,000,000 to not coach. Imagine being this fricking delusional

On another forum they said it was based on ATM putting a line item in the agreement around retaining NIL rights even if they leave.

I have no idea if this is true or not, but I hope it is!

It'd be interesting to see how Ole Miss got around that.
