College football is a cesspool now

Bond will be tejas' leading receiver in 2024 unless he's injured. He's a baller. And the reason he didn't ball out for BAMA was their o-line, amirite?

What loyalty do fans have to players? If UA could replace anyone on the roster with someone better out of the portal, you guys would be all for it.
Loyalty? It's non-existent both ways. The players want money and opportunities, and the fans want wins and championships. The players don't give frick whose uniform they wear if provided with the best opportunity available, and the fans don't give a frick who wears the uniforms as long as they win games.
And that is the problem.
At least in the pros you can lock in a player (and a commitment) by an agreement. You can’t do that in college - it is the Wild, Wild West.

It's a bummer that CFB has this in it, for sure.
I'm not going to hate him or let it ruin memories of him playing. He seemed to give it his all while at Bama.
I'm not obligated to root for him going forward, though.
It makes me appreciate those that have stayed or those that played rather than opt out in last yars bowl game.

Players now come for NIL and position coach. Except for Saban, not really for head coach. They certainly don't come for the school. So their loyalty is shallow. That's why that turd left and why the DBs left. Money, and an assistant coach. College football is gone. They are pros, treat them as such.

Without 4th and 31 no one would even give a crap. One play wonder. See ya.
Now if someone really critical like Downs left, then I'd really be pissed. This guy will be like the TE that transferred to Texas. I can't even remember his name and no one else cares.
I'm so sick of everything being about money and nothing but money.

But yes, it is time to consider football athletes contracted employees and get them contractually bound to the school. Amateurism is dead, there is no point acting like it is not. We're never going back. Schools need to protect their investment into these athletes.
We've gained more than we've lost in this system. This one is the most stinging loss we've had in the free agency era. It is still bad for the sport.
College football is now truly fricked up. It's not that the kids get money now. It's the fact that they have more freedom than NFL players. Case in point: is the entire roster of the New England Patriots now free to sign free agent contracts with any other team? Of course not. But Alabama's roster is. Someone needs to explain to me the logic behind that.

Downs, Moore and Lawson seem to be real leaders. Not even gonna lie, I would be a little salty if we lost one of them.

That image is incredibly poorly done. They left Alabama stuff all over his jersey and gloves.

It is what it is.
Alabama is vulnerable now because of the coaching change and portal opening. There will be opportunities when the next transfer window opens. Hopefully, we are shopping now.
question- can graduates transfer anytime or do they have to wait for window?

From ESPN:
What a prick. To not talk to DeBoer is childish. He didn’t want to be talked to about the direction of the team - he was paid for - why do that?

This.
It's killing the game. You simply can't have your entire roster able to walk out the door at any time when someone throws a dollar at them. What if teams could now be bidding on Patrick Mahomes for next season? This whole thing is a roster building nightmare and I think it's absolutely why Saban retired probably 3-4 years sooner than he otherwise would have. Yeah, he dealt with it, but at 72 he just got tired of the shite.

Some of these kids are just arrogant jackasses (probably more than most fans will admit or accept) Recruiting already made this an issue, NIL has turned it up to 11. A receiver with his stats acting like such a diva…..

What if teams could bid on Patrick Mahomes every season, never be punished for tampering, and there was no salary cap? The people who think this is OK are relying entirely on the assumption that fans of college athletics care so much more about the name on the front of the jersey than the names on the back that they'll never just say to hell with it because there's no longer any purpose in giving a shite about any of the individual players. I think there's a tipping point though and we're going to get there soon. Especially outside of the top 20-30 programs. They've all been quickly relegated to feeder programs.

Well, if Williams wants to be WR #1 right off the bat - with one of the most explosive play-calling coaches in the country - he’ll have it at Alabama.

Bond is a good WR, but I've never been sure he's the receiver you could count on to be the linchpin of your offense. Next man up.

Bond mentioned going to Texas as a business decision as he felt it would improve his draft stock.
That’s pretty clearly a thinly veiled shot at Milroe and the actualization of what we all heard about how the 2017 WRs were looking to transfer until the switch was made.
