Colin Hitschler is a really, really good hire for Alabama. Hitsch is a hell of a recruiter with a lot of connections on the east coast. Every Wisconsin fan is bummed, including myself.

Better watch yourself, half of us don't know him... And the other half is convinced he sucks and they hate him; but also have never heard of him.

I am actually excited about having young coaches. You can make the argument that the football world has so many re-threads it's crazy.

I always respected Wisky as a sports program. Huge faN of Jim Leonhard.

Yeah, I mean there's a part of me that thinks about all the little things I wished we had done differently over the last few seasons (like with some frustrating coordinators), and sees this as an opportunity to start fresh.
Do I want to burn it all down in the process? Of course not.
But I'm with you, this whole thing might end up pretty interesting once it all shakes out. It certainly isn't shaping up to be dull.

Yep! A few days ago I started a thread on what would make CKD successful. I said the following things...
I still think he has to achieve these things to win. I am encourage that he has kept a large portion of the support staff and I'm all in favor of the coaches he has hired. They all make sense at this point.
We still have a lot to be answered as he has been employed for 7 days.
Our shithead fans need to drop the unrealistic expectations and support the man to do what he feels he needs to do to be successful.
quote:
- He doesn't try to meet unrealistic expectations. You can't "win" with Bama fans. Don't try to keep up.
- He makes the main thing the main thing (aka success/winning). Acknowledge the GOAT and greatness. He shouldn't strive to be Saban. Take a look at the existing mechanisms in place. We've won for a reason. Keep good mechanisms that he can work with. If mechanisms don't fit his agenda, get rid of them or look to improve upon them. Saban wasn't perfect. Not a single coach is. Don't worry about meeting Saban or Bama fan's expectations.
- Keep the winning culture going. Great men, relentless effort, and accountability. Anything less is a loser's game.
- He improves his ability to recruit. He may be a great X&O coach but it's a whole hell of a lot easier with the best roster.
- Keep his loyalty in check. He has a number of coaches that have followed him since Sioux Falls. (i.e. Grubbs / Morrell) What happens if he doesn't win or they prove to be ineffective recruiters? Is he willing to make changes to improve the program?

Good points, especially that last one about his assistants, IMO.
Maybe if we drop a few "fans" this will be a net-positive as well.
All of those guys can go be Georgia fans, or Texas fans, or whatever the team du jour is right now.
For God sakes, I've been an Alabama basketball fan for decades. This current level of apparent disfunction hasn't even begun to phase me yet.

I am going to catch shite for this but I'll say it....
I am going to argue that fans who have followed Alabama Basketball + Football are way more sane than just FOGs.
Alabama Basketball keeps us grounded.

Not huge into golf, baseball or any other sport but I have an unhealthy obsession with Bama football and basketball.
Bama bball helped us stay grounded when we were mid but now it might be the other way around for the time being.

Having been a huge Tide Hoops fan my whole life, and spending my formative years in the Dubose/Fran/Price/Shula era, I was made for this shite. Forged in the fire so to speak

What’s crazy is I was here for the stallings run and then the death spiral until Saban got here. I just think 17 years of stability and just always knowing we were gonna be fine has made this just seem HUGE. I think that’s what most are having to process.
