I’ve mentally accepted Lanning might go but seems like tide fans are split 50/50 on him.

Thoughts ? Seems like DeBoer has a better track record as a head coach other than SEC connection. I guess that’s big though for this job. Sark seems locked in at Texas and Kiffin seems like too much of a head case for boosters to rally behind.

Unproven as a head coach. It’s a reach, but he could be good.

I think it would be a good hire. It's high risk but so is everybody after Saban

Recruiting and NIL stay mostly in tact. Potential to be great and a fairly low floor

He’s the perfect hire after Saban. High risk but could be high reward.

Imho, it's Dabo, Kiffin, then Lanning. But, you know Saban is not leaving the keys to the kingdom to a loser. If it's Lanning then Saban knows he will be great.

He's dumb as a rock if he takes this job.

To go from Nick Saban to a guy who couldn't win the Pac-12 is an absolute dream as an Auburn fan.

Lanning lost to that garbage Washington Huskie defense TWICE this year.

I thought Oregon was supposed to be an offensive juggernaut.
Huskie D looked like a bunch of Pop Warner kids against Michigan.

There's no guarantees, but he's had Oregon looking good, recruits well and spent time with both Saban and Kirby. He's as good of a bet as any others.

Kiffen wouldn't be bad, but I think he's burned a few too many bridges in T-town.

He’d be a fool to leave Oregon. He’s got a good thing going, Oregon can pay whatever they want to keep him. Why put that in jeopardy to live in the shadow of Nick Saban?

He’s young and has no titles. I don’t want us trapped in some mega contract with an unproven coach but I am not in charge

Saban also recommended Houston Nutt to Bertman when he left for nfl

Putting aside my Auburn bias, it seems really unlikely you’ll be able to sustain Saban’s work for more than a couple of seasons. Not that I expect Alabama to cease being competitive. I just think there might be one or two dudes out there who could do it with the minimal fall off and it’s tossing darts as to who that would be.

So go get a promising high profile coach who will get some buzz and knows the conference and hope for the best while accepting the reality that the next guy is probably going to be gone within 5-6 years. Seems like Lanning is as good a bet as any other and it seems unlikely he will dig a considerable hole for the guy who follows.

Don't want Lanning.

Give me Sark, Kiff, or Dabo.
