If Nick Saban already picked his successor, either he didn't tell Ryan Williams or Ryan didn't like the new coach. Ryan just decommitted

Or Ryan is about to announced as the next head coach at Alabama and doesn't want to waste a scholly.

Yup, has coached under Saban and Smart and has a lot of experience in the SEC.
Most importantly, he's not a clown on social media, takes his job seriously, and doesn't throw games away by going for it on 4th and a billion in his own territory.
He's also young enough to establish a new dynasty at Bama.
Finally, and most importantly, he'd never hire Pete Golding as a DC.

Kirby was young and UGA is his first job. Seemed to work out.

I'm not 100% sure Kiffin would be approved by THE MAN.

DABO and Saban are buddies, but Dabbo can't seem to wrap his head around NIL and the Portal. And is Buyout is massively high for Bama specifically

He was literally interviewing coaches yesterday. He was on Pat Mac Thursday of last week and was fine. Talking about the future. Something happened and I mean suddenly.

One factor is Lanning and Schuman are best friends. All my GA buddies are terrified of him becoming our coach. If nothing else they fear him poaching what they think is the best DC in the country.

One thing that makes me think that this was coming was that on that Pat Mac show, Pat asked him specifically about his future at Alabama and about retirement. Saban gave a different answer than his normal "I've always been a part of a team" and didn't directly say "I'm not retiring"
