Dan Lanning could be a good coach...but it would be an awful hire this year. He is not ready

I can’t see any reason why any coach is safe. New coach would certainly interview some of them but nothing is promised. Those contracts don’t mean shite once the big dog is gone

Lane either still has questionable decision making skills or fell on the sword for Saban. But we won't know the answer to that question unless he gets the job.

I assumed it was horseshite, but someone alleged Mrs. Terry was diagnosed with dementia.

Hopefully that isn't the case.

Maybe someone got COVID.

Much like there is no job that prepares you for being president of the US, I don’t think there is a coaching job to prepare you for Alabama. Maybe the cowboys but that’s it. But I think you want head coaching experience

Id love to get an older coach with some fire still left and something to prove. He gives us a Stallings kind of run and then we reevaluate after that. One guy really fits the bill: Lance Leipold

Ppl keep blaming NIL and portal…that’s been a thing for a bit now.

His roster was stacked and loaded again. Another top 2 class. Something else has to be going on. Health with him or family. Maybe he just knows he’s tired of doing it in general.

I hope he and Miss Terry are ok.

He's a 72 year old grandfather. Makes perfect sense.

There are a bunch that fit that bill but in today’s game, it could be a death knell. Might well take a chance and correct it in a few years if it doesn’t work out

God, I hope not

But it honestly seems like there was some external factor that's forcing the decision.

Bone reported that he was working on filling staff vacancies yesterday, so it's either that or he just woke up this morning and decided he didn't feel like going to work anymore.

Nick Saban? No way. It’s gotta be deeper than that.

Who bought a $20 million beach house less than 8 months ago. Plus the 2 South Florida dealerships his company bought a few months ago. I mean, he's large share owner of a Ferrari dealership. An ol hillbilly who went from pumping gas to selling Mercedes and Ferraris. And they look great for being 72. Him and Miss Terry are more than ok.

Greg McElroy said the same thing on his YouTube channel.

He said Saban was interviewing DC candidates last night.

Nick Saban on Dan Lanning this past season: "What I've always tried to do is have a bunch of young people, evaluate them, see them go get other jobs and know that you would hire them back, because you know who they are," Saban said. "Now one of the disadvantages of having all these guys going out and getting jobs everywhere, is they hire the guys before I get a chance to, like Dan Lanning ..

"Dan Lanning was here as a GA, he went to Memphis, got a job, I was ready to hire him, and two days before I hired him, Kirby hired him."
