247 is reporting that Durkin is the leader. No deal done yet but, is looking like it may happen.

Feels like his name being brought up is being done to throw people of the scent of what will really happen

Something about being prudent.

Especially when Tuscaloosa's down and hurting, it's bad enough when things are good.

All signs pointing to Durkin. Supposedly he and Hugh hit it off really well in the interview.

At least Durkin doesn't come with baggage. Oh, wait

I mean, not really. The Maryland administration cleared him. It was students acting emotionally and irrationally that ultimately led him to be fired.

It was a tragic situation but the head coach is probably the least responsible for something like that.

People acted like he should have been overruling professional medical staff. That would be insane.

He also has NFL job offers. Multitude of things.

I’ve heard Durkin is a done deal. announced tonight or tomorrow. Leaning towards tomorrow.

Yeah, I’m not sure what to think of this. So many mixed feelings about it. I guess we’ll see.

Durkin kinda feels like the Kevin Steele hire that Gus made. Hopefully he has similar success that Steele had here.

Durkin has a better track record than Arnett, no?

No doubt in my mind. What he did at Florida with Muschamp was solid, he worked miracles with that Ole Miss defense, turning them from a 100 and something rank to 51 in two seasons, and his A&M defenses were solid. He was also national recruiter of the year at Florida. There’s a reason why Saban had him observe practices in 2018 right after his firing from Maryland, and why Saban wanted to hire him this offseason.

I don’t believe Hugh and Arnett would have gotten along. Arnett kinda felt like Ron Roberts pt2 to me.

I would also say that what Durkin has been running fits a lot of what we’ve seen from Roberts. A lot of 4-2-5 with some 3-4.
