Did anyone catch this? He seems to put out good content, but there’s objective evidence that suggests 2020 was better than 2019.

Additionally, some try to say 2018 was even better and our best team ever. That team had crazy talent but was vulnerable.

Where would you guys rank our 2012 team? I miss those times. Loved that team (and that era).

I'm sure my answer would be different if I poured over statistic for hours.. but from a purely fan perspective:

2012 was one of my favorite Bama teams. That DL was nasty, and unblockable. They made tons of plays. I have never had more confidence in a defense to create turnovers.

Klatt has mad some terrible arguments of late. That was completely wrong and just glancing at Rosters. When talking about why he voted for Penix over JD for Heisman his logic was literally Penix "overcame" his tough games and JD didn't. When Daniels performed better in pretty much every big game and had a much, much worse defense. He's clearly biased for his network. Is what it is

If 2019 had anything that resembled a defense, and if Tua doesn't get injured, then I would agree. As it happened, 2020 was a better team

I'll be honest, talent wise I believe our 2017 roster was best, just going from the number of NFL starters on that team. There were 15 just in the QB, RB, and WR rooms.

But all of the rosters from 2015-2020 were absolutely ridiculously stacked.

"Team" and "players/talent" are two different things.

That is debatable, but 2016 was the best Bama team ever.

That 2018 Bama team was probably the best team to never win a Natty. Like the 2007 Patriots.

2019 with a healthy Tua had a better offense than 2020 but the defense was probably the worst we've had under Nick tbh.

2020 was a more balanced offense and Mac was incredible that year. Power running game w/ Najee and that elite O line. Passing game was Patriots like with Mac just dicing up defenses. The defense was not "elite" but much better than 2019. Will Anderson as a freshman, Surtain, Barmore were all difference makers.

My favorite team is 2016. No one will ever convince me it wasn’t Saban’s best. But that’s just my opinion.

Does he? Fox was the network that said Colorado vs USC was the game of the year

Alabama 59 Ole Miss 31
Alabama 47 A&M 28
Alabama 47 South Carolina 23

3-0 in the SEC and the defense was already showing signs. And I don't care if it was garbage time or whatever, Ole Miss ran for like 300 yards against Alabama. That 2019 team didn't have a defense up to the standard that wins championships at Alabama.

The defense was not good either year but it was definitively better in 2020. Will Anderson added some hurries. Surtain took away one receiver on the field every play.

2019 was arguably the worst defense of the Saban era. They couldn't stop the run. Couldn't stop the pass. The edge rush was the best aspect of the team but they weren't practically great compared to the edge guys from the 4 years since.

Also, I'd argue that the 2020 offense had something that the 2019 offense didn't: the back to the basket 7-step drop play action. The 2018 and 2019 offenses were built around Tua's quick processing and release. You didn't really want to do much long developing play actions that suck up the defense toward the LOS. Tua's best attribute was keeping his eyes down field. Furthermore, since Mac did so well with the play action it lended itself to committing more to true 100% run calls instead of the RPO. So the OL got to fire off blocks more to create more explosive runs.

I'd argue the weakness of the 2018-2019; 2021-2022 offenses was precisely because the QB's skill sets led to more RPO passing.

There's an argument. If anyone believes 2019 LSU was all time, you should think a healthy 2019 Bama would have been. If our LB corps wasn't devastated and if Tua wasn't literally limping vs LSU we pretty clearly win that game.
