It's the best 4 teams that can be justified the easiest. That's how it's always been.

It appears that winning a conference championship is a big part of it. Problem this year is 5 conference champions all had 1 loss or less and an argument to be in

The CFP committee is lucky they haven't had the 2023 scenario happen before now.

I agree, either Ga and Alabama or both in, or both out! Bama fans certainly don’t see it that way.

Why? Bama beat Georgia and won the conference championship. They don’t have the same resume

Fla State went undefeated and won their conference title, so based on whatever criteria you use, Fla St’s in and Ala’s out or both Ala and Ga are in and Texas is out.

Why? For pointing out the committee got it wrong? The committee used a different criteria for denying one team, and a different criteria for including one team.

UGA didn't deserve a playoff spot. I think FSU did.

That said, I think UGA has a better than 50/50 chance to beat every team in the nation on any given day. Doesn't mean we deserve a spot... we don't. We didn't execute when it mattered. Even if we win 55 of 100 against Bama if we play a bunch, Bama won the game that actually happened. Results should matter, not just how good the team is overall.

Reverse roles with Bama for a minute. IF LSU had lost to FSU early in the season, then went on to win the SEC West and beat the #1 UGA (defending b2b NC champs and ended their 29-game win streak) to win the SEC. Would you personally think LSU as the SEC Champion deserved a spot in the CFP?

No

FSU played big boy football by scheduling 2 SEC teams out of conference.
The AD literally did his part to help FSU.
And FSU won both games.

Chickenshit roll tide only schedules Texas and loses the game by 10 at home. This is college football. That is a playoff loss when there are other unbeaten conference champs.

I concede your point. Would you concede my point. The committee applied two different standards, one for denying FL St and another for denying Ga.

There weren't 3 undefeated Power 5 conference champs in 2017, and Georgia didn't beat Alabama in the SEC Championship. Ohio State was the team left out; they had 2 losses, and one was by over 30 points.

The two years aren't really comparable.

Saban looks like the cat that ate the golden canary. How many head to head matchups would Bama win vs Ga if they played 10?

There's nothing in the criteria that says anything about the record. Otherwise Liberty would be as eligible as FSU.

UGA had a weak SOS and lost to the only elite team they played on a neutral field.

What's Saban's record against Georgia? That should give you some indication.

Get Smart, Kirby! The committee was going to take the SEC champ who beat you. And there was no way they were taking Bama without Texas, too. Simple as that.

Maybe Georgia should have scheduled a strong OOC game in case they lost their only one true test during the year?

Georgia was the best last year, not this year, it’s funny how everyone can say FSU isn’t the same team without Travis, but they think Georgia is the same team as last year despite many different pieces including QB.

If it's the best 4 teams how is it the committee left out Georgia, a team that won 39 in a row and lost one game by a field goal.
