Saban said any SEC team with one loss is a top four team. Basically saying Alabama is in should they beat Georgia. I don’t think so. Should Florida State win the top four remains Georgia, Michigan, Washington, Florida State. Should Alabama beat Georgia that would only change Georgia ranking from #1 to #4. No way in hell #8 Alabama leaps over four spots, one being Texas. Texas beat Alabama pretty good in Tuscaloosa.

He has a fair chance but Texas should get in ahead of them if FSU loses with their third string QB

Seen a whole lot of talk around playoff controversy when it’s going to be the most straightforward season yet.

4 undefeated P5 teams, 4 playoff teams. Boom. Georgia will beat Bama and Louisville sucks. They had one “good” win this year over Notre Dame.

FSU might be playing their third string QB, that's the only worry.

While I most definitely agree with you, you can bet your sweet backside that Bama is in if they beat Georgia! No way the committee is leaving their darling Nicky out of the top four, should they win.

It could also be

Michigan, Washington, FSU, Texas

I know the SEC will raise hell if they’re the conference left out, but a P5 undefeated gets in no matter what (especially one that scheduled 2 SEC games out of conference and beat the crap out of them).

Texas beat Bama soundly head to head, so they have the trump card.

Will that be enough to jump Texas (assuming Longhorn win today) is the question. I’m not sure Bama’s better schedule and resume will be enough to have the committee subject itself to serious criticism for jumping a team that beat it head to head in its stadium.

They’re not leaving an SEC Champion out, IMO

It will be interesting to see how it unfolds

I don’t understand why Saban is taking strays for this. I agree with him 100%

So if Kelly was saying the same thing we would disagree?

Yep, even if Alabama wins, they have to hope and pray that Texas and Florida State lose. Like said earlier, the committee is not going to leave out an undefeated conference champion, and they certainly aren’t going to overlook the Texas win in Tuscaloosa. I do believe there is a shot no SEC team makes the playoffs which is crazy, but this is a year where there were a lot more good teams than usual. It’s been a while since I can remember there being this many undefeated or one loss teams at the end of the season.

Nick’s not wrong. A one loss SEC champ should never be left out if you want the 4 best teams. As a conference, we’ve got the skins on the wall to show that any playoff without an SEC team is gonna leave everyone with a lot of what-ifs.

That said, I’m petty and don’t like Bama or UGA and would love to see it.

I wouldn't say that. If they beat Georgia and Texas and FSU lose, Bama is obviously in.

“Saban said any SEC team with one loss is a top four team. Basically saying Alabama is in should they beat Georgia. I don’t think so.”

I love how back in October the LSU narrative was no way they keep a 2 loss sec champ out of the playoffs.
Now a 1 loss Bama isn’t good enough. LSU fans have a tremendous talent for talking out of both sides of their mouths.
