LSU gave Kelly how much again?

Well, if we look at what Aggy pays, we haven't overpaid for him yet at all.

Is each incentive compounding or just the threshold on which the incentive stops and the final payout?

Almost certainly the latter, for a max of ~$10.5 mil. This is just a listing of key terms. The full contract will spell all that out in detail.

Even though this is a completely reasonable agreement (ridiculously high SEC HC salaries notwithstanding), it will get trolled/ flamed because the Rant is a cesspool

I like the contract....A national championship is well worth 17.5 million... Looks like A solid decision by A&M leadership... Elko has earned a shot, whether he works out or not, is anyone's guess... Just as it would be with any coach hired anywhere.

I agree. I think the post-season incentives are not cumulative, but even if they are, $17.5 mil for a NC is not ridiculous at all. The exposure, ticket sales, merch sales, etc. will way more than offset the extra $10 mil paid in incentives.

Gonna need a ton of $$$ to convince anyone decent to walk into that pressure cooker of unreasonable expectations.

Wait, all we’ve been told the last few weeks after Jimbo’s firing is “A&M is happy with mediocre results and should’ve kept him” now we have “unreasonable expectations”? Which way is the rant hivemind leaning this week?

So a million dollar bonus for basically finishing 12th nationally? Did they forget the playoffs will be different going forward?

What you should have done was burn the entire thing down. Pit everything to the wind.

But you hired "your" guy.

A second choice, I may add.

$8 mil for a 12th place finish is pretty on par for that result, maybe even still in bargain territory.

Stoops makes $9mil/yr at Kentucky, unranked.

Kelly makes about $9.5 mil, and they're at 14th right now.

Kiffin gets $9 mil and he's got OM at 12th right now.

Hell, Pittman makes $6 mil, and he doesn't win shite.

Buyout is avg to below avg and he's making less then Billy Napier. I'd argue that this is a good contract for the Aggies

moneywhipped or not, most coaches worth their salt will not go to anm. remember y’all started out you were going to moneywhip Smart, then on down the line until settling for a no name coach from Jimbo’s coaching tree.

Brian Kelly makes $9.5 per year and wouldn’t have made a 12 team playoff in either of his seasons so at least we’re not getting hosed like our friends over in Red Stick.

You tell your offspring not to try and simply accept mediocre results since they are, you know, your kids? On second thought, that’s a solid plan for you.

Might as well put $100B next to "Win a national championship" cause it ain't happening.

The last & only A&M HC to win a National Championship made $1,750 a year plus four eggs and a quart of milk per day from the university farm.
