How the hell did Georgia and Tennessee end up playing each other on cupcake weekend?

Cupcake weekend in the SEC is like a tradition by now. It kinda has to suck for Georgia and Tennessee fans that they actually have to play a real game while the rest of the SEC plays a glorified scrimmage game this week.

We have Tech and they have Vandy for rivalry week - this actually makes sense for both of us

I'll give Tech credit. They've beaten a couple of decent teams this year. Vandy has not.
Will we beat them like a drum? Yes. But they are better than they have been. Not good, but not the laughing stock they've been since old ugly retired.

We’ve almost always eaten our cupcakes before the main course

Georgia traditionally plays Auburn this week but Auburn got mad about constantly playing Georgia and Alabama back to back so the SEC put the Auburn Georgia game earlier in the season so poor liitle Auburn would have a breather between playing their big brothers.
Does that answer your question?

Well the SEC has gotten killed for years over this very week. It just seems strange to actually see 2 SEC teams go at it when everyone typically takes it down a notch or two and plays a FCS or G5 team. Well I guess Georgia has always done it haven’t they. Georgia used to play Auburn around this time every year until Auburn whined it’s way out of it.

We’ve actually been playing a cupcake this week for a while.
And all we wanted was to play in Athens two years in a row so we could have the rivalries back to how they were before Mizzou/A&M screwed up the schedules. But for some reason we didn’t get that wish and they made it worse by moving it up

Yeah, I love Waffle House and don’t even care that it’s a GA Tech restaurant
I had an opportunity to meet Joe Rogers Jr - he offered me the opportunity to run a Waffle House (this was 30 years ago, I was in my early 20’s)
I will never regret turning that down - I would hate a 60-80 hour a week restaurant job…

It should be for the East but Tennessee missed the memo and decided to suck

That often happens with them.

"Cupcake" weekend is lame. a 9th conference game for everyone would be way more entertaining this week.

The SEC needs *some* game worthy of the prime tv slot, so this was on purpose. Plus as stated above neither UGA nor Tennessee have a tough game in the last week.

Georgia traditionally plays Auburn this week
From the mid 90s until just a few years ago this was Iron Bowl week. Then the rest of the conference got their panties in a wad that Auburn or Bama might have an off week before the SECCG if they won the west, so the league office stipulated that you have to play in week 13, so the Iron Bowl moved back to the Saturday after Thanksgiving and both Auburn and Bama have played cupcakes the week before.

We either play or we lay eggs hoping this Saturday isn’t Easter.
Ga suck it!!
Kidding I hope we play 4 quarters and comes down to the wire
You know we used to have games just like that
You will never forget the Dobbs nail boot lol

Bama is only team that needs byes and layups ahead of their biggest games
They do it every season

Same with Mizzou. Florida this weekend, followed by our cupcake game.

frick you and the alien.
I am convinced the only reason he was going for aerospace engineer was so he could finally get his arse back to alpha Centauri.
ETA: now that I am thinking about it, our QB kind of looks like a white version of Dobbs. Eff you again for making me realize that.

This is why I liked the Arky-lsu game on Black Friday.
It gave us a day’s extra rest.
