The crowd has stepped their game up, though. Tennessee and LSU games this year were both insanely loud. The atmosphere was incredible.
I was at the TSIO and was absolutely unimpressed with the crowd noise. I barely had to raise my voice to talk to the person with me even at the loudest moments. If Tennessee is making that kind of second half rally against a rival in Neyland, your ears will be ringing hours after the game.
The campus, atmosphere, hospitality and over all experience were top notch, the crowd noise was meh.

Do NFL stadiums play mumble rap? If so...
EtA .. Second half music is better

I think OP is right.
The whole Bama brand is like that. The campus is uniform. Cookie cutter. Their stadium, too. Their players, place, stadium, etc. just kinda seem NPC.
And not per se in a bad way. It's translated to success. It's just...there. no real spice. Though it basically says, "Our product speaks for itself." And it does. It's just some sleek, although kinda flat, modern architecture vibe.

College is about the atmosphere, not the building.
Would expect a Tennessee fan to say as much. Neyland is a dump.

Don't like the LED lights at all. Liked BDS when it was a 60K seat bowl. I understand the "arms" race and the stadium is very comfortable with all the bells and whistles but I guess I'm just old fashioned and liked it when BDS was a replica of Notre Dame stadium. Another is Bama keeps "renovating" right after they renovate meanwhile ceiling tiles are falling from the piece of shite known as Coleman Coliseum.
I agree. I hate modernizing classic stadiums. Most of the sections I’m in everyone stands and doesn’t give a shite about comforts

I love Bryant Denny and they have made tremendous upgrades over the years to keep it state of the art.
BUT, way too damn much piped in music. I feel like you only hear the band (of however many hundreds of people that put in hundreds of hours if practice) play like 10% of the time.
If anything makes BDS feel other than collegiate, it’s that imo. Watching games on tv or listening on radio as a kid, I distinctly remember the band constantly throughout the game. Now it’s pregame, halftime, and rammer jammer at the end, and other wise some piped in bullshite.
ETA: Curious how this compares to other SEC stadiums. Im only in my 30s and probably come across old man-ish, but I cant stand that it’s 90% piped in music at Bryant Denny. Why even have the Million Dollar Band at this point?

If you mean the campus doesn't smell like rotten seafood and vomit while littered with Abita beer bottles and Strawgator cans, you are right.
Historically, Bama is the Heart of Dixie located in the Deep South and is known for culture and refinement and high civility.
Baton Rouge, historically, has been a seething cesspit of inequity and foulness populated by the offspring of a degenerate race of subhuman and inbred swamp inhabitants that initially had to be taught how to properly use restrooms and toilets when first attending LSU.

That's right - it's brick columns with black metal or something. Totally spaced out on that.

The campus layout is 150+ years old, as is the architecture

The first time I saw a game at Denny Stadium was in 1964 or 65. The south end zone seats were removable aluminum bleachers. 30-35 thousand total seats. Now it’s 100,000 +.
I think I enjoyed the old days of parking south of the stadium and walking through the grave yard to get to the game the most. And I got to see Joe Namath play in person.

There was no need to improve the Gameday experience when they win that much.

I think the design is in part due to limitations in space: on one side it has Evergreen Cemetery and 90 degrees from that is sorority row. They built up rather than out.
