Arnett deserves more time. At the beginning of this season most State fans predicted 8-10 wins, where’s the optimism ?

The team returned 20 starters from a 9 win team. 8 wins was not a ridiculous prediction. The consensus is that this could have been a special season with Leach - but would be a step back with a new coach. We just did not realize we had a coach that was so over his head.

NIL at State is a disaster. Cohen and Leach railed against it and our fanbase listened. Then when it became a bigger deal than Cohen predicted, he bailed for Auburn. Selmon may not even be a real person, as he is never seen.

So we have a 35 year old first time head football coach and a 37 year old first time athletic director that are both in over their head.

Since Covid things have changed. It is like we broke some curse by hiring Lane. Baseball won a natty. Football is as good as it has been in 60 years. Basketball has a top 10 coach. These are uncharted waters as an athletics department.

See that wood over there? Better go knock on it.

Couple years ago I felt the same about State. Baseball Natty in 21, Leach had a top 25 football team in 22 that returns everyone in 23 so we felt a 10 win season was on the table. New basketball hire got us to NCAA tourney (this could still be a positive). But otherwise Leach dies football goes to shite, Lemonis is on the verge of getting fired if he doesn’t get us to postseason after 2 disastrous baseball teams post championship.

The devil will come collect your soul soon, you can bet on it.

Does he really? Jesus.

I gave Arnett the benefit of the doubt and granted we had unfortunate injuries before the easier part of the SEC schedule but the team just hasn’t performed well.

Kansas State HC is the better choice.

KSU is a better job than MSU tbh.

Got to have good NIL support to attract top talents to go to MSU.

Our new AD supposedly is working on NIL support and has improved our standing there but it’s still gonna take time to catch up because Cohen wouldn’t do it

And with the 12 team playoff next season Ole Miss will be competing for natties. Ole Miss would have made a 12 team playoff in 2021 and this season.

Negative. He hasn’t came close to flashing any signs of being a competent head coach. None. Horrible in every metric. Dead last in recruiting and not even putting forth decent effort at it.

I almost wonder if he has been told he is gone at the end of the season because he acts like it

You finished unranked last year and 11th in 2021. Stop lying

Hammer, meet Nail. A hurdle for Arkansas as well.

Makes zero sense too with guys like Jerry Jones, Walton family, Tyson, JB Hunt. State doesn’t have alumni with billions of dollars, Arkansas could literally buy a top 10 class with pocket change

It’s best to just go ahead and announce it then. Complete with “this was always an interim position” talk.

Then get a head start on all the other walking dead coaches.

From Ole Coach 34 state has some major nil issues. can you pull a coach like that and give them the NIL they would ask for?

We were ranked in the top 10 during the season for three consecutive seasons. When’s the last time state was ranked in the top 10? A decade ago?

Titles count from 1992 on, not the pre integration bullshite you claim..State has also been ranked #1 in the CFB poll for multiple weeks, when was the last time Ole Miss did that?...Never.

I have some inside info on this due to a couple extended family members and a friend that are big donors. The NIL is in a much better spot then it was last year and if we let arnett go you will see donors make a big push because that’s the first question a potential coach will ask. We won’t be tops in the SEC by any means but we’ll be able to compete for sure.

I know some donors stepped up big time for coach Jan’s in the offseason and we’ll be prepared for football going forward too

Not really. We finished 11th with a 10-3 record one year. Last year sucked.
