I’ll let others chime in about actual tailgating but I would pencil in a few minutes to just walk around their campus, it’s really beautiful and I’ve always enjoyed walking around there whenever I’ve visited Nashville

Wife and a few of her girlfriends spent a few days in Nashville last year. They had a great time there just bar hopping but they also said the exact same thing. Not as cheap as they thought.

Can't speak to the tailgating scene. When I was up for the game in 2008 we parked in a parking garage and walked to the stadium.

Lower Broadway area is a ton of bars and restaurants. Roberts Western World is great for live music, as is Laylas Bluegrass Inn. Take a tour of the Ryman and then step across the alley for a beer at Tootsie's...lots of Opry stars would drink there waiting for their performance slot.

Country Music Hall of Fame is excellent, both in their permanent and temporary exhibits. Also check out the Johnny Cash museum. Small but worth it.

Centennial Park is just across West End Ave from the VU campus. This was the site of the Tennessee Centennial Exhibition (almost a Worlds Fair but not quite). The park has a full scale replica of the Parthanon in Athens. The lower level is an art museum and the main level has a replica of the statue of Athena.

Food wise there is a Pancake Pantry like the one in Gatlinburg. Jack's BBQ on lower Broadway is food. I've heard good things about Biscuit Love but never been myself. The Loveless Cafe is a bit of a drive and you either get there early or you wait a couple of hours for a table, but the food is amazing home style Southern cooking. Princes or Hattie Bs for Nashville hot chicken. Also heard good things about Pharmburger.

Lived in Nashville for 2 years in early 2000s and went to the 2008 game. It has changed so much since then. Used to go to Gruhn Guitars every now and again on my lunch break look at the instruments maybe see a country star or two. Rent got so,high due to tourism that they moved to 8th Ave now. At least the Station Inn stuck it out in the Gultch despite cranes everywhere, would go,there on Sundays and here some good pickers. I would recommend Peg Leg Porker or Martins over Jacks BBQ. You better be in line early for Pancake Pantry, it would be line up around the block when I lived,there at 9am can’t imagine what it’s like now.

My favorite place for lunch went out of business this year Arnold’s was a great meat and three on 8th Ave. But it seems the real estate situation was untenable.

It used to be a line outside when the wife (pics on onlyfans) lived there in the late 90s.

My kid lives in the Gultch and has proven everything is super expensive in Nashville.

Cool place for the ladies to spend the day.

Bingo corch- used to live in Nashville. It was great. Now? Not so much or not in the same ways. Over priced, over crowded, over hyped and not what it used to be.

Should be really nice weather for the weekend. Have a great time!

Thanks for the feedback guys. We have a group of 8 going and was trying to have at least a couple planned destinations. I heard it was expensive and a bit of a cluster on Broadway. I understand the stadium is under renovation too so it should be interesting. I've been to Nashville a couple of times but only on business. Thanks again and War Eagle!

Let me reinforce the recommendation for the CMHOF.
If you have ANY interest in music history even if you are not a country/bluegrass fan it is a must visit, and plan at least a half day to do it.
If you are a music fan of any genre you will love it.
Nobody has mentioned Rotier's on West End right across from campus as a burger joint of note?.
Did they go out of business?
