Nah. Uconn won last year as a 4 seed. Talking heads at the 4 letter network have to talk. The network isn't televising the games. Of course they're gonna just take the high road and pick the higher seeds.
Further, deep down , I think they have spill over Bama fatigue from football.

So does Wrightsell go back into the starting lineup?

Normally I would say yes…..but I’m starting Stevenson to see if he can stay hot and have Wrightsell be our scoring off the bench

I don’t think we will win(I don’t even know if we can keep it single digits) but I will say Illinois missed a lot of wide open 3s during UConn’s 30-0 run.

Why would we change our starting lineup?

Pringle, Nelson, Rylan, Sears and Estrada.

Then mix in Stevenson, Wrightsell, Diobuate (sp?) and Walters

If Wrightsell can play, he can spell Sears, Estrada, and Rylan. He probably can’t play a bunch of minutes, but rotating 4 guards is much better than rotating just the 3 we did this past weekend.

What version of Wrightsell will we get as well? The one that played the first game against Flordia didn't help much...

We need the guy who had 22 a couple games after

Pringle doesn't shoot and you cannot score inside against UConn. Our only real shot to win the game is to rain 3s and be on fire. I might even bring Nelson and Pringle both off the bench and start Stevenson with all 4 guards just to set the pace early and try to drag them into a chaotic track meet. Could blow up in our faces, but it's not like anyone expects us to even keep it respectable.

It would real cool if we rolled out in a Crimson version of our new Jerseys Saturday.

This would be more an idea to start the 2nd half for me.

I've watched a number UCONN games this year and every single of those games against good teams was very close until a big 2nd half run.

I'm not saying they couldn't jump all over us early but it would be an exception for them.

This is the crux of the problems UCONN creates:

They're not a pace offense solely because they can choke out most teams in the half court but they have tactically increased pace at times and looked fluid doing so. I don' t think we can just assume that pace is our ticket. They're more athletically gifted than our team and could just beat us at our own game or tempo + misses mean UCONN gets that double digit gap and chokes us out.

The choice between big and small lineup is a similar conundrum. We can't really match their size but I think we may find our small lineup not getting the same quality of mismatch against UCONN. Rylan and Estrada are use to mismatching the 3s and 4s they end up on at times but these guys are a bit more athletic and use their length intelligently to keep dribble drive in front of them.

I said it elsewhere but I really don't think there is a path for Alabama that involves fewer than 20 3PM. Alabama is going to need to get those 60 points on fewer makes, maybe get UCONN to react in ways that can open up the rim for alley oops and backdoor cuts behind their big center. I don't think Sears or Estrada are going to have much success on direct attacks at the rim.

The cognitive dissonance of the Auburn fanbase in this moment is something mental health professionals should do a case study on. A huge segment of them are accusing us of being a bandwagon fanbase that doesn't really care. Auburn fans are saying this. A program that didn't appear in the NCAA tournament until the mid-80s and no one gave a frick about for a century until 2019. It's incredible.

Really is going to come down to playing fundamental basketball amidst the chaos.

Creighton was 14/28 from 3 when they boatraced them- which is doable for us, but they only turned it over 7 times.

Seton Hall was only 3/8 from deep when they beat them by 15. They aren't invincible and are prone to awful nights from beyond the arc. We have to take care of the basketball though and can't shot ourselves in the foot with live ball turnovers that lead to easy buckets the other way

Exactly people are talking about UConn like they’re the dream team. They have to be concerned about us just as much as we need to about them. They have to deal with Nelson and Pringle down low. They also will witness an aerial assault from deep.

Spot on...Limit the turnovers. Stay out of foul trouble. Stay hot on the 3's, around 50%.
This will most definitely have to be our finest 40 minute game to pull the upset.
Offense and defense.
All the pressure's on the defending champions.
No one will have us keeping the game within single digits.
Anything's possible though.

Hear me out. Start a guy that never plays to do the tip off. Then when their 7 footer goes up for it have the scrub punch him right in the face. Let them know right from jump street we came to win or die trying.

Also when the announcers say “everyone has a game plan until they get punched in the mouth” it will actually be true.

Just throwing around ideas.

Bama has won 56 games over the past 2 years, which is the record for most wins in a 2 year span in Bama history, breaking the old record of 52 which was done a couple of times.

I don't think the graphic is correct. We passed Arkansas this season to become the second winningest SEC program.

We'll drop back to third next year again when Texas joins, though.
